TWO COUNTY MARINAS CITED FOR ENVIRONMENTAL FRIENDLINESS

TWO COUNTY MARINAS CITED FOR EXCELLENCE

Wicomico County Executive Richard M. Pollitt, Jr. announced that Cedar Hill Marina and Nanticoke Harbor Marina have been cited by Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley and the Maryland Department of Natural Resources, respectively.

Cedar Hill was one of ten Maryland marinas recognized by the Governor at a ceremony in August. When presenting the award, the Governor said, “The voluntary efforts of clean marina owners and managers to reduce pollution and help protect our rivers and the Chesapeake Bay are truly commendable.”

Nanticoke Harbor joins 131 other Maryland marinas certified as “Clean Marinas” by the Department of Natural Resources. It has 70 boat slips that serve watermen and recreational boaters.

Executive Pollitt praised Superintendent of Parks Rick Konrad saying that, “It is a never-ending battle to preserve our waterways and the Chesapeake Bay. I commend our Parks staff for helping to win the battle and for having their efforts recognized by these prestigious designations.”

The people who run Cedar Hil Marina are first class down to earth real nice folks. I've used their marina on a transient basis. The marina IS clean, the surrounding areas ARE well kept. In fact this is one of our favorite marinas to visit, even by car. Thanks for a job well done.

Well damn, why didn't O'Guvnah visit the Salisbury Marina? I'm sure he would have been quite impressed with the environmental responsibility displayed by the city.

The Marinas are County not City owned. However the Salisbury Marina (City owned) also has the Clean Marina designation.
