SCOOTERS IN OCEAN CITY
Should there be laws for them? Should they wear helmets? Should they possess motorcycle license? Should they be allowed to use the bike/bus lane on Coastal Highway? Should they be allowed to leave Ocean City's city limits? Are you annoyed by them?

We have enough laws! They should
abide by the bike laws. Get used to it , next year they will be the majority. 5 years from now it will
be the mode of transportation for
everyone. I think it is great!!
I happen to have 2 scooters one for me and one for my daughter. I have saved so much gas driving it instead of my car. We obey all the rules of the road. She wears a helmet. We don't live in Ocean city. I hope everyone gets one!
They need to outlaw the fr**** things, they are the most unsafe joke the town allows. Had to be council person Howards idea, no-one else could be so stupid. (except the mayor from SBY)
9:19 AM thats right you dont live in Ocean City with a 6 lane hwy, and your expected to drive in the bus lane with a traffic count exceeding 150,000 on a weekend, I would sure hope you know the differance.
9:40 --- YOU ARE EXACTLY RIGHT! That's why I specified "in Ocean City"
I work in Ocean City and I see some of the craziest people riding those things in OC. They need to be treated as any other motorized vehicle. They need to wear helmets. They need ot stop weaving in and out of traffic and obey all traffic laws including speeding and traffic signals. Sounds like common sense you say??? lol!!! This is summer in OC...Common sense has been outlawed!!!
No, we have a Council that should be outlawed, the problem is no one with 1/2 a brain wants the job, so you get a bunch of losers that allowed the down to go down so far from what it once was .... AFFORDABLE and FAMILY focused! BTW, your right on with Nancy Howard, thank God she is not running again, now if she would only take Mary Knight with her.
The biggest problem with these scooters is there not registered or insured. If there riding in the travel lanes and hit your car your insurance has to cover it. Then if you run into them then your insurance has to cover that too. I say these scooters need to be registered and have insurance just like every other motor vehicle on the road.
Delmar passed an ordinance a few years ago prohibiting scooters, 49cc and under, from being allowed on the road. IMHO, I think one should be licensed to ride one and that they should be registered because, after all, they are motor vehicles. Under Maryland law, bicycles are considered motor vehicles as well and you can be cited for violating traffic law.
Just my thoughts,
Harris
I see alot of scooters and where I live alot of golf carts-unfortunately most of those on golf carts are kids under 14 and since they have are not required to get safety training or liability insurance, they are a legal nightmare!
