Girls’ Largest Fast Pitch Weekend Tournament Comes To Delmarva

USSSA Blast at the Beach Slated for this Weekend

(Salisbury, MD) One hundred forty-three teams, competing over five different age groups will come together across Delmarva this weekend for the United States Specialty Sports Association’s (USSSA) Blast at the Beach Girls’ Fast Pitch Softball Tournament. The tournament will run from Friday, June 13 through Sunday, June 15. It is the largest girls’ fast pitch weekend tournament of its kind on the East Coast.

Games will take place at nine different parks throughout Worcester, Wicomico and Sussex, DE. In Wicomico County, games will be played at Winterplace Park, the Henry S. Parker Athletic Field, East Wicomico Little League Field and the Eastside Sports Complex (Willards). The public is welcome at all games, and admission is free. It is estimated that Blast at the Beach will draw more than 7,000 people to the region and generate more than $15 million in economic impact. Participating teams are traveling from Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, New Jersey, West Virginia and New York.

USSSA, the organization bringing Blast at the Beach to this area also brought the USSSA World Series to Wicomico County in 2007. They will return again from July 21 through July 27 of this year for the 11U and 13U Eastern World Series tournament.

My daughter, now 21, played travel softball for many years. I hope everyone who has an interest in sporting events makes an effort to catch some of these awesome competitions. There will be no better free entertainment on the whole East Coast this weekend, and it's right here in our own backyards!!!!! Go, Enjoy, and Cheer on someones team!
