Ovechkin Wins Hart Trophy, Boudreau Top Coach

Washington Capitals center Alex Ovechkin capped up an amazing season earning the NHL's MVP award, the Hart Trophy. Scoring 65 goals and tallying 67 assists Ovechkin lead the Capitals to their first post-season birth since 2002 with winning an amazing 11 of 12 games to qualify. Washington's luck ran out as they fell to the Philadelphia Flyers in 7.

Ovechkin also picked up the Lester B. Pearson Award for the most outstanding player, the Maurice Richard Trophy for most goals, and the Art Ross Trophy for most points.

The top coaching award, the Jack Adams, went to The Capitals coach Bruce Boudreau who lead the Caps to a 43-31-8 record and the Southeast crown with 94 points. That was 2 points better than The Carolina Hurricanes who missed the playoffs by 2 points. The Eastern Conference playoff race was one of the most heated contests in a long time having no set playoff picture until the final games were played.
