Promoting child abuse and uncivilized behavior. My, you must be proud of yourself. If one is too stupid to know how to practice behavior modification without hitting their children, they should refrain from having kids. Only uneducated people have to resort to spanking / beating, call it what it is, to discipline their children.

As a boy, I was beat for any reason. Example, having wet hair after a child. This was at the hands of my stepfather. My real dad never laid a hand on me. It was his disappointment in my actions, that inspired me to be better. As for my former stepfather, the next time I see him he's getting curb stomped. Don't hit your kids, folks. It's not a liberal thing. Not a conservative thing. Hitting someone smaller than you my as well be bullying.
Fear can be a powerful motivator.

For those too uneducated to realize it, "fear" is what makes children lie to their parents.
I have seen parenting on two different styles, my grandkids don't get spankings and they show no respect to the parents or any one else!

I was spanked twice by my father - that is all it took.
I am grateful that he had spanked me both of those times because a) I deserved it and b) I never did it again. He put the fear into me to listen to him and respect his authority and I am a better person today for it. He was a loving man who I looked up to who happened to spank me twice - I love him for doing it. I agree with 10:13 am.

A spanking and correction did not stun their growth, make them lazy unwilling to work, make them thugs, criminals, drug addicts and drunkards. It taught them the rewards of just how to behave, and become better citizens. It may not be true in all cases but I would say the majority benefited parents who behaved like parents not best friends.
So smack their tails for lying and create a fear of being dishonest.

Okay, taking your children to the women’s march constitutes child abuse, beating them is not only acceptable but encouraged. I’m just trying to wrap my head around this.
In the experiences that I have been spanked in my life you mind you not in the bed room by my wife. I had usually done something so terribly stupid and equally dangerous and scared my parents to death with gasoline, matches, fireworks or household electricity or combinations there of running the tractor into a ditch or stealing their car. I got beat and somehow got a PHD too and took care of both of them in their elder years and had a fond appreciation of how much they actually cared for me and instilled in me the ultimate care I had for them. No one gets out alive spankings or otherwise.I have never had to beat my own children thankfully they knew better that I could out whit them and their pedestrian crocodile tears and tantrums and they had better stay on board with Daddy. I been there and done that.
I got spanked only once as a kid, in about 1960 when I was about ten. I remembered it and I never again did the sort of stupid thing that I did to deserve punishment.
And a whole lot of people CHOOSE to remain ignorant (like their parents) when it comes to parenting. They will always never learn, except what they learn from their ignorant parents. There's a better way, but the ignorance of their parents is forever embedded in their children (except for the children that grow up and resolve not to follow their parents failures in parenting). It's called education, and those that don't get it, are responsible for their history repeating itself. Just because your parents did it to you didn't make it right, or the smart thing to do. Ignorance perpetuates itself, especially when we just accept it. Our prisons are full of adults that were beaten, spanked, disciplined, whatever you want to call corporal punishment. So don't try to say all that physical punishment makes a child a better person. Nobody in prison for violent crimes was a spoiled child.
my mother would wack the s--t out of me for anything i did wrong. cant say it helped that much. My father would take away my privileges. It worked a lot better.
A good old fashioned spanking is not child abuse. Generations of us got that and we all turned out fairly normal. The disrespectful brats now don't respect their parents, teachers, police or any figure of authority,, and this is because they are not disciplined. A stupid time out or going to the naughty bench does not get through to them. An ass smacking would. I know a mother who brags she has never spanked her child, an 8 year old girl, and there is no bigger brat on this planet. It sure shows.
Yeah the jails are full of them. We should beat them too. Everyone gets off too easy these days. No poor houses or work farms. Everyone gets off and gets out and goes back to their dysfunctional ways the criminal rich and poor alike.
I didn't stop with my kids. I've slapped a few friends around too that needed brought to their senses. I did not have time to hold their hands and go to therapy with them and play duck duck goose blubbering old maid victim shit. Buck up people. What doesn't kill ya makes you stronger.
No one remembers precious and coddled children and their ribbons and trophies even the ones that come home maimed obedient in senseless adult wars of which most adults don't even know the true nature of and usher them home heroes when they should have not only spared them a beating but also the humiliation and mutilation of these worthless conflicts that have nothing to do with life here.

If that's all you got out of the comment, you are clueless (and ignorant). Do you even know what a "snowflake" is? The commenter couldn't be further from being a snowflake, rather he is someone that chose to better himself (and his family) and not commit the sins of his parents. The ignorant often chose to remain that way. And yet some rise above it. Stay where you are. It makes the rest of us look better.

Dear Readers,
To weigh in, about 90% of an individual's personality is shaped by the age of 11 (most credible researchers have shared that by 6 or 7 personality is defined and then fine tuned until about the ages of 10-11). Given this, it is quite unfortunate to see so many children who were not correctly raised and creating such a ruckus in the community. Have a conversation with any Middle School teacher and ask them to reference student behaviors. It is quite likely they will be able to clearly articulate those who will have societal issues/ legal/ LE issues in the future. In my professional opinion, the occasional spanking, practiced with restraint can be effective (and certainly did not harm me) but clearly defining expectations and reinforcing consequences consistently is far more effective.

There is not a child that has ever been that doesn't need a spanking sometime. First of all a spanking is not beating or child abuse if done right. A spanking on the butt not hard just enough to get the message across if a child is getting ready to run out in the street in front of a car. The child that have been spanked and disciplined will stop when you tell them. But the child that has never been spanked or disciplined doesn't stop when told and gets hit by the car. So it is for their own good and it works also don't spank in anger and explain to the child what he has done wrong to deserve the spanking.
Yes, the educators had paddles and used them for punishment. Guess the educated thought it best!
