Well, I told you so last week. Now the Westbound traffic will speed up to run the red light, just like they do for the Hobbs road traffic light. Westbound will routinely run a red light that has been red for 3-5 seconds. They don't back off for a yellow light 1/2 mile in front of them...they speed up! By the time they blow through your green light, they are running 65 MPH. It's what they do. If the SHA wants them to stop for a traffic light, they will have to slow them down. Lower the speed limit prior to the lights (and enforce it) and the problem of running the red lights at 65MPH will be greatly reduced. I apologize if this makes too much sense for some of you to understand.
IMO, if MSP would spend more time patrolling in traffic rather than running radar traps, the aggressive driver situation would calm down, at least somewhat. Maybe they could do that with the 3 of 4 of them it takes for an equipment violation stop! Rt. 50 is usually pretty darned ridiculous; any given day you see several near-misses due to some idiot zipping in & out of traffic like it's a video game! Same thing goes for Rt. 13 South from bypass' end on.
Sat eating lunch at dash in and watched 4 different people putting across 50 just making it across in time to avoid being hit, seems mental alertness seems to be the culprit behind the accidents.
I did not see the accident as I was in the westbound lane and passed by after it had happened but it appeared as though a car stopped for the light and the two cars behind them did not stop. There were three cars sitting there. The front car and the second car had rear end damage and the last car had front end damage. Just my guess as I didn't slow down to rubberneck.
Its not red and green, its yellow that they don't understand. For some, it means speed up (and maximize damage and injury when they collide with a car that they took the right of way from). On rt 50, speeding up to go through a intersection with a traffic light, when already going over 55MPH, can have deadly consequences; but hey, they don't care. Lots of people like that. How do I know? See it every day. I have a 500 mile weekly commute. I share the road with inconsiderate idiots that threaten my life on a daily basis. I often think about taking one of them out when they risk my life for avoiding stopping for a red light, but that would be bad, right? As long as I'm the one that T-bones them, I'll survive, and they will be the ones doing flips and being ejected from their vehicle, right? But that would be wrong, right? I'm getting old enough that some days I think I just don't care about the law breakers, and whether they live or die. Some day, it may be you.

RU FN SERIOUS.
Well that didn’t take long.
Hope everyone is ok
Seems the light didn't fix bad driving
WOW...so soon.
It's has NOTHING to do with the intersection it was a accident west bound NOT THE INTERSECTION.
WTH!
welp, that was money well spent
Lots more coming
A light was not needed East bound! How many accidents were in the Eastbound lane compared to the Westbound?
I would LOL, but cheese!
Dan Satterfield said it would be like this...well, maybe not Dan... but someone did.
Did not take long at all people need to pay attention

Welcome to stupidville.
How do you put up a light on only on side of the road?

Let's see is it Red or Green that I am supposed to stop. Better text and find out.
EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY
SPEED LIMITS FROM WOR WIC COLLEGE
TO OCEAN CITY BEACH WILL BE 25MPH.
No,
they enjoy jumping out in front of cars doing 72 + mph
....wearing their Green Superman Capes,
to give you a ticket
I saw the accident and it was in east bound lane right before the new traffic light
I agree with above. The MSP needs to patrol and pull over and ticket aggressive drivers.

Instead of 5 a day it’s once in a while, but the true test will be Memorial Day weekend

It is a dual highway with a very large median so traffic does not need to be stopped on one side unnecessarily
Exactly 4:09, you must one of the two
Like they say in Florida - yellow caution light is just a "suggestion"
