If Wicomico County Teachers are not happy, then do something about it. Band together, stick together and get rid of those who sit at the top making these dumb decisions for everyone else. Frederickson thinks he is on a throne just like Obama. Knock him off that throne teachers, for the good of the students who have no choice but go to public schools. Some really bad, bad decisions have been made in the last few days.
It is not the teachers or the administration who can fix this. There is no discipline in the home. Discipline is not allowed in the schools or the kid's parent will file a lawsuit. It is the ignorant kids with no support from home. Society has created this condition. Everything goes. All you teachers, go find another career. This one is not worth it.

They "cook the books". If too many people are sent to the office, they send them right back so it looks like "discipline is down".

Teachers need to start keeping their own statistics. Poor leadership at its' best!
My son comes home and most weeks he tells me stories of how disrespectful and unruly some kids are. They defy any orders given. When I pull up to drop him off at school, I always feel like I'm sending him in to the lion's den.
As a parent volunteer in 3 different schools I see a lot of good and a ton of crap. The teachers are not writing referrals because the admins have instructed them to try to handle it in the classroom. The number of referrals written have dramatically decreased over the years, hence why John Frederickson said school climate has gotten better.
Lets not forget that the "disparaging" numbers between black students and all others debate. I am certain this plays a HUGE roll in all of this. Oh almost forgot IEP's. Yes, there are some who need IEP's, but most use them as a license to act like an a-hole or to disregard rules bc of what ever reasoning they want to use.
Bottom line, teachers are struggling to maintain a classroom because they get NO support from the admins or the ones behind Lowes.
8:19 am....I totally agree! You are so right!! Kids cursing at teachers using the "F bomb" and administration sends them right back to class! Well, of course they are going to keep doing this same behavior. They bowed down to these students because they are "person of color" and so they accept this.
While it spreads like cancer in the classroom. Teachers are exhausted! Why don't ALL KIDS FOLLOW THE SAME RULES!
Go to Mardela High School where you get sent to MR. Ramey's Boot Camp for frivalous reasons. They only do that so Mr. Ramey keeps his job. It's a waste. He should go to Salisbury Schools.
I do believe that discipline and respect begins at home but...about 20 years ago the school system inserted themselves as "parents". Instead of teaching the basics they started "teaching" sex and not just the biology of sex. Our children now get sexual information on every perversion out there. The also "teach" about bullying, tolerance, earth day, recycling, drinking, drugs etc.... These are all things that should be dealt with at home. Let's get back to basic education and stop all of the nonsense. Teachers, you brought a lot of this on yourselves.

Students and parents should BE GROSSLY UPSET! RULES AND DISCIPLINARY ACTIONS SHOULD BE EQUAL! Yet, white kids are being overly punished and prosecuted while black kids get away with everything!!!

If a teacher writes too many referrals they are told they lack classroom discipline skills and are reprimanded. It's a zoo in the schools and it's getting worse.
I hope the guy who created desegregation is burning up in hell!
Interesting stats here. Discipline begins at home. Deferring to schools for cultivating your child's morals, integrity, respect and ability to fit in with society in a law abiding manner is an at home job that has it to be reinforced at school. Many parents are too caught up in their own lives to be bothered by their children's behavior and disrespect towards others. This disrespect they often see at home when their parents do not respect them.
While it is a wonderful for a child to find an adult mentor at school, the first mentors for a child should be their parents.
When children see their parents become combative over grades and disciplinary actions by the school, they in turn learn to rebel against authority. Why don't parents work with school in order to enforce good behavior?

It is because Wicomico County don't want to look "too racial" so now our kids are being littered with destruction and corruption. Children are scared to go to school... There's no discipline for the Bad kids! Poor teachers....I hate to be them. They have no support whatsoever!
Let Governor HOgan's office come down and interview WiHI Teachers and Bennett Teachers and ask them personally what happens to them when they write referrals.... Kids speaking to them any way, cursing at them, calling them horrific names. Horrific!
This is what you all wanted. Your ALL part of the school union culture. More money, can't get fired, teach to the test,EVERYONE passes because they tried really, really hard. What did you think would happen when you trade morals and common sense for money? ?
Why doesnt anyone have the guts to say it? Our culture has gone to hell, because of liberals who told us to always "question authority" and that truth is relative an no one is "the boss of me". Those same liberals destroyed the american family on purpose by replacing the father (and the mother) with the State. You tell me- was discipline better or worse in the 1950's. Would you rather be a teacher in 1964 or 1998? Next, is the county more conservative or more liberal than the 1950's?

We continue to "coddle" our young when in fact we are doing more damage then good. We are a product of our own destruction. I would never blame my color on my failures! It just weakens the race people like you calling everyone racist. It's old.....so very old that they continue to use this as an excuse!!!!

Do you really think these kids are learning all of that from teachers...how about from watching their parents, their friends, tv, the Internet, and are you really saying they shouldn't address bullying? Do you think that if they stop teaching about sex those kids would stop having sex? Maybe you are a great parent and you deal with all of this in the privacy of your own home and that is the best way. But shouldn't we try to prevent teen pregnancy? To promote abstinence but be realistic that some will have sex anyway and educate them on available protection options. In a lot of cases if this isn't done in school, it isn't done at all. If not school, where would they learn? Trial and error? I doubt that they are promoting bad activities quite the contrary they are educating on the dangers of drinking drugs and sex. And for the life of me what is the problem with teaching kids to recycle?
If you people actually knew what was happening. We have rapists, armed robbers and drug dealers roaming our hallways with your kids. At the high school at which i work the thugs just walk around and refuse to go to class. They threaten students and teachers and when our admin actually tries to do something, our wonderful assistant superintendents overturn the suspensions to keep the thugs there. Many of us are now just closing and locking our doors and ignoring the bedlam in the hallway. Its the worst ive seen in 20 years, by far. What fredrickson said just goes to show that he could care less just as he always has. He is a money man and only cares about the bottom line and not about your kids. There are a few others up there as well. They all need to go.
Schools are a war zone with no rules. And it's the girls they are worse than the boys. Maybe instead of pushing the gay stuff on kids they should be teaching them how to act in a civilized society.
The School Superintendent is a failure... all of that money the position commands is an insult.. if they cannot show improvement it is time to clean house... all they are worried about is picking new furniture for their new offices... typical Progressive mediocrity and self endearment that is seen as some privilege
In my neighborhood I see younger, teenagers, young adults all together, bad mouthing everyone they see, Friday nite with pouring rain they were out in the streets and on corners cussing, arguing, threatening, if you ask me their high on drugs, alcohol, whatever, always angry and menacing. No parents in sight they don't care because at least their not home. Whatever happened to the curfew bounced around for months? Why doesn't Jake Day do something about the curfew and more cops on the streets?
Not once have I heard Justice Department. The schools can not discipline any more. If we didn't post anonymous you wouldn't get half the details you are getting. I am able to spot a bigot i do not need a name.
We used to say that the parents send to school their best. The best in many cases is the worst. Parents cannot control the monsters that they have reared or is it raised? We raise animals and rear children. Don't blame the teachers nor the administration totally for poor discipline in schools. The directives come from the state department and then up to the national level. The directives are tied to money received from the federal government. A new president, cabinet and congress would change things. Do you get my drift?? Social services and other state agencies are out of hand in some cases. Enough said for now. Just some things to ponder. Your educated vote in the next election can change things.
