WHAT HAVE WE BEEN TRYING TO TELL YOU: Mid-Atlantic school bomb threats: Terrorists may be testing response strategies

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (WBFF) -- Multiple bomb threats have been trickling in to schools throughout the Mid-Atlantic region since Monday morning. Authorities say the calls are coming through a recorded robocall, and are similar in nature.

More than a dozen schools in Maryland as well as schools in Delaware and Virginia have been affected.

Tyler Heights Elementary School in Annapolis was one of the schools to get the threat. The 600 students were evacuated. No bomb was found.

Doyle Batton, with the Anne Arundel County Office of School Security tells FOX45 News that the call "started out as a male, and they said an explosive device had been placed in the school. Somewhere along the line, the female voice added to the information and indicated they had a certain period of time to evacuate the school before it would detonate."

Former F.B.I. Agent Tyrone Powers says terrorists may be watching the reaction to the threats. He says, "Organizations like this have probed before by making calls to see what our response time is. We know before they have watched the response times of police departments."

Powers says they're wondering, "How quickly do they get there, how many officers do they send, and what do the officers do when they arrive at that particular scene?"

The thing is whoever is doing this is more sophisticated then your average kid or whatever trying to pull a prank. A few months ago a teen was arrested down south for making a bomb threat. He threw out some ISIS propaganda in the treats. He was caught and arrested within a few hours of the threat. That this is taking so long to arrest someone shows whoever is doing it has knowledge of how to cover their tracks.

Could be the more radical among our own political activists. Look at home first.

great so according to this info, thanks to the idiots in Wicomico County we will now be a prime target. Since we don't respond, don't evacuate, no bomb sniffing dogs, oh and we don't even alert parents until multiple hours later!!!!!!!!!!!

scary thing is, someone may be doing this to get the kids outside. some schools are harder to get inside during school hours, but if someone wants to plan an attack outside, this would be the way to do it. hopefully law enforcement can come up with a better way to protect the kids then by just rounding them up outside in a group. i dont know what the solution would be, but someones doing these bomb threats for a specific reason.
