Alex Guerrero, A Champion In My Eyes

Today Alex Guerrero faced Judge Wade in one of the most ridiculous cases Wicomico County has ever seen. Under pressure, Alex plead guilty but Judge Wade saw right through the political crap in his case and only gave Alex a 90 day PBJ, UNSUPERVISED.

All along I had thought Alex was pulled over for not wearing his seat belt, not true. Alex was wearing his seat belt. He was just pulled over for that reason. The K-9 Dog never came out of the Sheriff's Deputies vehicle and get this, Alex was finally served with his ticket IN JAIL.

Chalk one up for the all mighty Sheriff Lewis on this one. He must be so proud of his Department. Then again, if you talk to any one of the Deputies there that Department has become somewhat of a laughing stock. No drugs were ever found, go figure. I'm amazed the Sheriff didn't insist on a DNA test. Then again, look at what happened the last time he pulled that one on the public.

I better hope my cigars don't smell like a joint or I'm in deep trouble, if you know what I mean. But its whatever.

The difference is with you, when the dog is instructed to alert falsely, the officer will have a little baggie of something to throw under your seat. It's what they do.
You know? Make it look good!
Gotta love the law.

Its time for Lewis to move on to something else

Im glad to see he stepped up like a man and admitted what we all new. We have to protect our police officers. No one is above the law.

Proud of a guilty plea? If he was wearing his seatbelt and was pulled over for not wearing it, he should have fought the charge.

Can you explain this a little more Joe?

Are you talking about the Leggs case?

Sounds like we should chalk one up to the Police Department. You don't plead guilty for something you didn't do.

anonymous 5:57, pretty lame Officer.

If the judge saw through it, he would have found Guerrero not guilty, instead of giving him probation before judgement and placing him on 90 days of probation.

5:57 People plea all the time because they are terrified with all the heaped up false charges and don't want to take a chance. Everyone wins but those are really are innocent but so afraid they take a plea. I'm not saying there aren't guilty people, just a heck of a lot less than really are! Lewis should go away and never come back! So many people have had to go years with crap on their records becuase these idiots and Ruark wanted to make names for themselves. Good riddance to both of them!

Time for a change.A big change.

Shorty Smurf is more like it!

Guilty plea was for the failure to obey charge. Assault charge was dropped.

I thought Mike supported The Guerrero Team. WFH

Why would he plead? If he was pulled over for a seatbelt and it can be proven he had the seatbelt on then any subsequent search is violative of the 4th amendment likely.

Who are these attorneys trying to tell everyone it is in their best interest to plead guilty? He should have refused to plead guilty and entered a not guilty plea. Who was his attorney?

Fail to obey charge? Really? What did he fail to obey? Here is the correct verbage of the charge. "(3) A person may not willfully fail to obey a reasonable and lawful order that a law enforcement officer makes to prevent a disturbance to the public peace." Did he disturb the peace or did he fail to comply with an order to submit to a Terry frisk? The demand to frisk was unwarranted on a traffic stop for a seat belt violation with no reasonable articulable suspicion that the defendant had a weapon. All of this stemmed from a police officer(s)misusing the authority granted under "Terry v Ohio". This case would never pass constitutional muster. Many police officers have forgotten their obligation to comply with the constitution. And lawyers seem to have forgotten their obligation to act in the best interest of their clients. This entire situation was a joke. Now an innocent guy has a criminal record. But....it's whatever.
