I want the count council to understand that our childrens education needs to be higher on their list of priorities. We shouldn't be managing a crappy budget. We need more money to go toward education in this county. Otherwise families like mine will be moving and taking our money elsewhere.

I'm with you 12:08. Wicomico County is disgraceful when it comes to it's kids and education. I have never in my life lived anywhere with so many short sighted, ignorant citizens.

They continue to hold these "hearings", but do they ever really listen? Based on their ongoing decisions regarding education in our county, it seems like they are just for show.

The last budget meeting I went to consisted of horrific cuts. The people who spoke were basically begging them to save their pet projects or programs. Some of these programs are magnet, stars, et cetera.

They already know what they are going to do. It is pathetic that we have to watch the dog and pony show to get the answers.

I am with the previous poster, I am ready to pull up the stakes and move, taking my money with me. I am tired of a 3rd rate education my children receive.

If the four-day week is mentioned again, maybe a parent will ask how the county intends to get around the COMAR regulation (state law) that says schools must be in session 180 days a school year. COMAR used to allow a certain number of hours OR the 180 days. Not any more. Are we intending to get a state law changed to accommodate someone's pet project that he put in place in Minnesota? Dishonest scare tactics.
