Gov. Chris Gregoire on Wednesday said she'll put forward legislation to legalize marriage for gay and lesbian couples.
The proposal will be introduced during the legislative session that starts Monday. If it's approved, Washington would become the seventh state to legalize gay marriage.
"Today, I'm announcing my support for a law that gives same-sex couples in our state the right to receive a marriage license in Washington - the same right given our heterosexual couples," Gregoire said before a crowd of gay marriage supporters at her office. "It is time, it is the right thing to do, and I will introduce the bill to make it happen."
The governor spoke for 20 minutes, laying out what she sees as the moral and legal reasons for the move, as well as the evolution of her personal views over the years.

Well that SUCKS!!! My kids are confused enough as it is by the way adults act.
The U.S. is becoming a country that is similar to the kingdoms of Sodom and Gomorrah. I wouldn't be surprised if God unleashed his WRATH upon this country one day in the near future just as he did when he demolished Sodom and Gomorrah, and I wouldn't blame him for doing so!
Maybe you should try and be a better parent instead of being a biblethumper.
No wonder your children are confused.
@3:45 Sure enough... we need to teach our kids about Gods WRATH and the true story of Sodom and Gammorah.... you know, where lot offered up his daughters to be raped by an angry mob instead of the two strangers that were in his home. Or, how it was moral that Lots daughters got him drunk so they could both take advantage of him and have incestuous relations with him.
Yeah.. I think I have a good explanation as to why you're kids are confused, and it's not due to loving consenting adults being able to get married to one another.
4:10 and 5:46, i am assuming that the two of you are men and recently married to each other in delaware.
@7:20 Wow. The best you can do is point and call someone an offensive name.
When you are ready to participate like an adult and articulate a well formed idea, come back and do so.
Kudos to 5:46 & 6:39. :)
