Two more restaurants, just what we need, like another pharmacy at the old Benedict's site. To say we have unbridled growth would be putting it mildly. There are empty retail stores, that could have been used, and there will be more. How can anyone even think of revitializing downtown when almost every road leading into Salisbury has stores. There is no reason to go downtown.
I don't see where either of these two facilities are in bad locations. Long Horn will offer what the other 3 restaurants in that area don't, so that is good. The diner is needed, not everyone likes a chain restaurant. Good Luck to both of them!
Only resturant I wish to hear coming to the area is Cracker Barrel, which my guess is never going to happen. We save our "going out to eat money" for mini vacation, where there is a Cracker Barrel along the way.
I agree with 8:07, why move the Job Center out to Walton Switch instead of in the city where it is easily accessible to most. What else is going to be at this location?
I am happy for the two restaurants which will provide more jobs and for me another dining option.
5:06, good comment. I thought the same thing when I saw the front-page article in the DT this morning: Oh, good, just what we nned--another pharmacy on Business 13. When do we reach the saturation point for pharmacies and restaurants?
The same reason that rib joint doesn't do much business. It's hard for people to get in and out. And you don't think Long Horn is a chain? That speaks volumes.

I used to like Cracker Barrel too and would stop every time on my travels when possible. But the food started being cold when served almost every time and the service was slipping. I stopped going there. Maybe they could do better in this area, I don't know. I would give it a try if one were to appear.
They're building the Longhorn Steakhouse the same way they built Red Lobster and Olive Garden. The building is too small and there will almost always be an hour wait. If this rings true, I'll boycot that restaurant as well! I understand that you can't built it huge and not fill it regularly, but I refuse to wait an hour for a seat in ANY restaurant! We dine out every Friday night for date night. I don't want my date night time taken up standing in line at a restaurant!

Bad locations. Stiff competition. Good luck.

GoodBye Outback!
How about the Job Center moving away from people who need jobs? Talk about a bad location!

People around here sure find the money to eat out. Thought we had a bad economy.
Another one will soon be opening at the former Watermans location.

Walgreen's is going where the Job Shop was. Chain pharmacies and restaurants, whoo hooo.
