Bridgeville -- As a public courtesy, the Department of Transportation (DelDOT) and the Delaware State Police wants to inform motorists to expect traffic delays for the annual "Punkin Chunkin" event that will occur on Friday, November 4 and end on Sunday, November 6, in Bridgeville.
In order to accommodate heavy volumes of traffic, motorists coming from the north and west will be directed down Redden Road to Chaplins Chapel Road to enter the parking area. Motorists coming from the south and east will be directed from Route 404 to US 13 north to Rifle Range Road. Once on Rifle Range Road, motorists will be directed to the parking area by on-scene personnel. Traffic will not be permitted to access the event from the Route 404/Chaplins Chapel Road intersection. In addition, traffic wanting to use Chaplins Chapel Road, between Redden Road and Russell Road, during the event will only be permitted to travel in the southbound direction. This includes residents living along that roadway.
DelDOT will be posting directional signs for motorists approaching the area and will also warn motorists of expected traffic delays. Please obey the direction of State Police and DelDOT personnel around the event area and plan extra time in your trip to account for possible traffic delays.
DelDOT's Transportation Management Center (TMC) staff in coordination with the Delaware State Police will monitor traffic in and around the Bridgeville vicinity to ensure safe travel for motorists.
Motorists can get real time updates on traffic by signing up for Twitter and Facebook
Additional information can also be found at DelDOT or listen to WTMC 1380 AM.
