Rep. Andy Harris Opposes Largest Toll Hike In State’s History

Washington, DC – Today, Rep. Andy Harris continued to voice his opposition to the largest toll hike in the state’s history.
“Maryland families and job creators, particularly on the Eastern Shore, cannot afford another tax hike,” said Rep. Andy Harris. “Maryland doesn’t have a revenue problem - they simply want to raise tolls by hundreds of millions of dollars to fund transportation projects for the Washington, D.C. suburbs.”
The State of Maryland is proposing drastic toll increases, including a 140% increase in the Bay Bridge toll, and increasing the rates on the Hatem River Bridge, Harbor and Fort McHenry Tunnels and John F. Kennedy Memorial Highway. While Maryland families and small businesses continue to struggle with making ends meet in this difficult economy, this tax increase comes at the worst possible time.
