(ANNAPOLIS, MD) – Governor Martin O’Malley today released the following statement on President Obama’s visit to Ohio to promote the American Jobs Act:
“Today, President Obama is visiting the Brent Spence Bridge that connects Ohio and Kentucky. The bridge carries double its original capacity when designed 50 years ago and has been deemed “functionally obsolete” for some time – and yet it carries an estimated 4 percent of our Gross Domestic Product over the Ohio River every year.
“While the President is calling on Congress to pass the American Jobs Act to modernize our roads, rail, airports and waterways and put hundreds of thousands of Americans back to work, I wanted to talk about what the American Jobs Act would mean for bridges and jobs right here in Maryland.
“With the American Jobs Act, we can put hundreds of people to work and move forward more quickly with projects like widening the I-70 bridge over Concocheague Creek in Washington County and reconstructing the I-695 Baltimore Beltway bridge over Milford Mill Road – a bridge that is 50 years old and structurally deficient.
“A modern economy requires modern investments, and the most important job we have is to create the next one.
“President Obama’s plan is a balanced approach to job creation with modern investments and targeted incentives, putting thousands back to work. In Maryland alone, the President’s plan would create and save an estimated 19,000 jobs. It will put construction workers back on the job, keep our police officers, teachers and firefighters on the job in our communities, and help the long-term unemployed get back to work, and small businesses back to hiring.
“America wins when America creates jobs, and together, we can create jobs and opportunity, and build our children a bridge to a better future.”

O'Malley is in lock step with Obama. Both are delusional. What I can't figure out is how any sane adult could believe this tripe. Well, maybe the word "sane" is now a verb.

I wish the bill would be sent to congress so all of us could see that there really is a bill and not just a bunch of hot air. Then the American public would be able to review it on the internet(as promised during the the last election campaign) to see exactly what projects would be done and how much they would cost.Then we could put this stimulus3 package in the budget and send it to congress for approval. To sum it up, let's make it simple. There is no jobs bill, we don't know what projects would be done,and we don't know how it's going to be paid for. Other than that it sounds like a concrete plan. Or maybe we should just fund some more companies to build solar panels that are run by friends of the democrat party so the funds can be used for election campaigns next year.
Government needs to stay out of the jobs business.All that happens is unions take over and gouge the taxpayers.
