Headlight Flashing Faces Test As Free Speech In Florida
When Erich Campbell passed two Florida Highway Patrol cruisers parked in the median near Tampa International Airport in December 2009, he flashed his headlights to warn oncoming drivers of the radar patrol.
Then, to his surprise, one of the troopers pulled over his silver Toyota Tundra and ticketed him for improper flashing of high beams.
Turn on your parking lights...that's the first selection on the light switch for those that are car challenged....then when you flash your lights the taillights don't let the cop you passed know you are flashing your lights...It should not be illegal in any event and this has going on ever since i started driving in the 60's.
Rather than aiding and abetting a criminal (speeder), I like to see this as informing fellow motorists that they should slow down because of a potentially unsafe condition in the roads ahead. Those officers might unsafely jump out into traffic without sufficient warning, endangering motorists and law enforcement alike. And we need the toughest laws in the world to help keep our officers safe.

That was a nice way to put it. I wonder how many heads that went over.
