SOMERSET CO. ESCAPEE CAPTURED IN OCEAN CITY

(OCEAN CITY, MD) – A Maryland State Police apprehension team today tracked down and arrested a man who had escaped from a detention center in Somerset County yesterday and the woman who had helped him.

The arrested escapee is identified as Scott A. Odham, 47. Odham had been incarcerated in the Somerset County Detention Center until his escape yesterday. Maryland State Police investigators have now charged Odham with first degree escape.

Also arrested by State Police today was Odham’s girlfriend, Ginger A. Rhodes, 40, whose last known address was Laurel, Delaware. Rhodes is charged with first degree escape, harboring a prison escapee and related charges.

Maryland State Police from the Princess Anne Barrack were called to the Somerset County Detention Center at about 5:30 p.m. on July 31, 2011 after officials there notified them of an escape. Further investigation indicated Rhodes had picked up Odham near the prison after his escape.

Maryland State Police and allied law enforcement in Maryland and Delaware searched for Odham and Rhodes throughout the night. The Maryland State Police State Apprehension Team was contacted and assisted in the search.

Information was developed that led police to a bank on 94th St. in Ocean City, where Rhodes is known to do business. State Police investigators from the State Apprehension Team conducted surveillance at the bank and, at about 11:30 a.m. today, saw a pickup truck with three people, two of whom were Odham and Rhodes, pull into the bank lot.

After Rhodes went into the bank, troopers arrested Odham in the pickup truck. The driver/owner of the truck has not been charged. Rhodes was arrested as she came out of the bank.

Both Odham and Rhodes were taken to the Maryland State Police Princess Anne Barrack for processing. The investigation is continuing.

I'm relieved they recaptured him. If you check out his judicial case search this crime spree has been happening for a long time. He needs to be put away forever.
