Earthquake, hurricane, tornado likely to be part of ABC show
An earthquake, hurricane and reported tornado all in the same week? Even the best Hollywood writers couldn’t come up with the events that have hit during the “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” build in Coolspring. It makes for good television.
As work started on the Jusst Sooup Ministry Ranch Aug. 22, hundreds of volunteers and subcontractors began transformation of a 6-acre field along Route 9 into a 7,000-square-foot complex, an earthquake hit the East Coast Aug. 23 followed by Hurricane Irene and a reported tornado Aug. 27.
Dale Dunning, who has operated a volunteer soup kitchen in various locations in the county for the past 12 years, will return home for the traditional reveal of the project at noon, Wednesday, Aug. 31. That’s when show host Ty Pennington will shout out, “Move that bus!” to reveal the complex for the first time to the Dunning family who has been out of the area on vacation in an undisclosed location.
The public is invited to the reveal that is filmed for television. Shuttle service will begin at 8 a.m. from Cape Henlopen High School. There is no parking available at the site.
