OCEAN CITY, Md. - Visitors are making their way back to Ocean City, and local businesses are hoping to be ready for Labor Day crowds after then Hurricane Irene swept through the resort town.
The Category 1 storm punished the Maryland coast with a foot of rain and 61 mph winds. Business owners were grateful to receive relatively little wind damage.
A mandatory evacuation order was in place for the storm, but everybody was allowed back in starting at noon Sunday.
Still, the people who did come back, weren't sure what they were going to find.
"It was quite surprised when I came back into town. I was expecting to see the roads all flooded and everything," a man tells WTOP's Andrew Mollenbeck.
