DEATH OF MAN FOUND IN VEHICLE INVESTIGATED

(College Park, MD) – Maryland State Police from the College Park Barrack are investigating the death of a man who was found slumped over in a truck on the shoulder of the Capital Beltway near I-95 this morning.

Family notifications have not been made at this time, so the man’s name is being withheld. He is an adult male whom police believe lived out of state.

Shortly before 9:00 a.m. today, Maryland State Police at the College Park Barrack received a call from a motorist who reported that a man appeared to be slumped over in a box truck that was parked on the shoulder of the outer loop of I-495, about one-tenth of a mile south of the I-95 north split. Troopers arrived and found the man slumped over between the seats in the cab of the box truck. Prince George’s County Fire and EMS personnel responded and determined the man was deceased.

Criminal investigators responded from the College Park Barrack and a forensic investigator from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. There were no immediately obvious signs of trauma on the man and no evidence of foul play. The vehicle did not appear to have been involved in a traffic crash.

The man’s body will be transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for an autopsy. The investigation is continuing.
