Scare Tactics... Obama THREATENS retirees that they wont get the money they put in over the many years of service. He's showing how hes a bad president by saying hes gonna take the money from SS to pay for un-named, unspecified, government expenditures. If the govt. cannot cut the fat and loose some spending weight then it deserves to crash.
...and the retirees should show up at the polls in force and make it very obvious why Obama's re-election is trounced.
I agree with 4:45...Maybe thats what we need. Let the government CRASH and start over. We would have to do that if we got in det and couldnt pay our bills.

The president is disgraceful for saying that. I'll bet HIS check and those of Congress get deposited without fail. The SSI fund (without question) is solvent and takes in more money than is paid out EVERY YEAR. Thats a fact. To try to scare people, of whom many are barely living on the income they receive, is an outrage and demonstrates that the president is entirely too stupid and uninformed to be in his position, or is a DELIBERATE liar who will say anything to the citizenry to push an agenda. I'm going with both.
What a piece of crap this guy is. The bad part is the republicans will get blamed for this guys political butchering of the U.S economy and policies that destroy the elderly and middle class. God help us if he is re- elected.

I SAY we should not Guarantee Obama's retirement when he ever gets out. We can not Guarantee Secret Service for him his family for life, we can not Guarantee college for his kids.

But no - he has to let his wife Michelle take a whole entourage to Spain and then book flights to Tin Buck Tu. Owe - but wait a minute - time to go to Brazil - and then back again to Ireland.

I agree...bet no one in Congress (at least seriously) gives up....their pay, retirement, golden health care coverage...how could they when they have the vote...heck if I could vote on my own benefits, paycheck, I'd be making that money too!
Whatever happened to that famous "lockbox" where all the SS money was? Supposedly, it couldn't be touched for anything else. Since SS has its trust fund from which payments are made each month, how is it that Obama can say that SS recipients might not get their checks because the "coffers" will be empty?
C'mon. He is an idiot. He nevern mentioned the friggin' aid to pakistan being cut! (not military aid - the other aid he failed to mention is scheduled to continue) as well as aid to the Libyan rebels, that which goes to the UN, that which goes to the IMF to bail out Europe. This is most certainly a scare tactic. He just believes we are too stupid to recognize it.
Sadly their are many seniors who believe what the President said about SS. I can't understand why anyone would believe anything he says but I know their are people making phone calls and writing letters to their congressman (women). SS is a big topic for many seniors and they are afraid they are going to lose it. They WILL support Obama in 2012. It will be hard to convince them otherwise.
I am really tired of the politics I am sick and tired of sending our tax dollars over seas.How many jobs are really be created. Seems like everytime I pick up an item is says (Made In China).Every time there is a crisis in another country we send money to them. We get all these Hollywood Stars to do telethons. How many of these countries donate to The U.S.A in our time of need. I am sick and tired of our tax dollars funding these stupid programs that are pointless.Someone should rewrite the whole book on taxes ect.God send us someone that understands what our tax dollars are paid for.
When I first heard this comment, I wondered if this will be talked about after he loses in 2012 as the moment he lost the election? He, despite his hopes that the Republicans will be blamed, is the one who will decide what will and will not be paid if we "default" and most thinking voters know that. Wishful thinking, maybe?
