FAA Partial Shutdown Issues

A new airport tower in Michigan is missing its head. A small airport in Pennsylvania will have to go without a new boiler. Visitors to an airport in California will have to dodge a leaky roof. It's all because the FAA has lost its operating license and is partially shut down. Thanks to a stalemate in Congress, FAA had to halt construction on 62 projects at airports from coast to coast. Work involved new towers, traffic control hardware, and repairs to buildings and runways. 4,000 FAA workers have also been furloughed. There's no end in sight. Representative John Mica, chairman of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, said there have been no negotiations in the past few days between the House and Senate to resolve the dispute. Tune in as Federal Drive speaks with Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood at 6:40 a.m. for the latest update on the partial shutdown.
