Debt Limit - Quotes

March 2006
“The fact that we are here today to debate raising America ’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure.... It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies. … Leadership means that ‘the buck stops here.’ Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better. I therefore intend to oppose the effort to increase America ’s debt limit.”
--Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill.--HYPOCRITE

So shouldn't the final tag line "hyprocrite" also be used for the same conservatives who suddenly think raising the ceiling is terrible?

In all fairness, that was before the great recession. EVERY economist in this country said we needed to spend to prevent total economic collapse- some say we didn't spend enough at the time and that's why the recovery is so sluggish. Now is the time to cut spending, not then.

Only a dummiecrat could try and turn that around to dig Barak out of his own mess. Unbelievable that anyone is that stupid to believe you have to spend money you don't have to get through a finacial crisis. That's like paying your mortgage with a credit card. Morons!

11:54, whis is exactly what people do when they get into a bind (pay bills/buy what they need on credit). This gets you by in the short term. It's only a problem when it's a longterm strategy.

When people are behind, they also go out and find a way to make more money.

Which is right at the crux of the matter. Both parties need to cut the crap and realize that we will have to cut entitlement spending as well as raise taxes on the rich to curtail long-term debt.

Go ahead and raise taxes on the rich and see what happens to the cost of goods and services you purchase. It's the oldest "bait & switch" tactic in the book and a favorite of the Democrat party.
