SHOREBIRDS GAME NOTES: 6/28 vs. LAKEWOOD

PREVIEW: The Shorebirds wrap up the homestand with game five against the BlueClaws. Last night, Lakewood starter Matt Way allowed two hits over six innings to earn his seventh win of the season. The Shorebirds managed a total of five hits.

1-FOR-20: Kieron Pope is 1-for-20 over the last five games. He is 1-for-15 in the series.

7 RUNS SCORED IN 7 GAMES: Ty Kelly has scored seven runs in the last seven games. Kelly hitting .346 over the last 10 games.

BEST MONTH?: A win tonight would give the Shorebirds their 12th win in June, tied with April for the most in a month this season. The Shorebirds went 12-10 in April and 10-20 in May. The ‘Birds are 11-11 in June.

TOP DOUBLES TEAMS: Lakewood and Delmarva are one and two in the league in doubles. Lakewood is first with 161 while Delmarva is second with 150. Garabez Rosa is tied for sixth in the circuit with 22 two-baggers.

WALK LEADERS: The Shorebirds lead the South Atlantic League in walks (256). Lexington is second in the league with 255. Conley is second in the league (52) while Kelly is fifth in the SAL (38).

SECOND HALF HISTORY: Here are the Shorebirds records in the second half since 2005: 30-37 (2009), 40-30 (2008), 34-35 (2007), 27-42 (2006), 42-27 (2005), 34-35 (2004). The ‘Birds won the second half crown in 2005. The ‘Birds are one game over .500 since the 2004 season in the second half (207-206).

Shorebirds Play West Virginia Power In Charleston on Tuesday

Salisbury, Md. – Due to an intense storm, the Shorebirds and the BlueClaws were unable to begin the series finale at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium on Monday night. A make up date will be announced at a later date.

The Shorebirds travel to Charleston, West Virginia to begin a five-game series at Appalachian Power Park on Tuesday night at 7:05 p.m.
