Pooch Pulled From Sewer In Maryland

Rescuers took a dog to an animal shelter after pulling him from the sewer in Laurel, Md., Tuesday afternoon.

Prince George's County Fire and EMS went to the area near Holly and Clark streets at about 2 p.m. after residents reported hearing a dog barking in the sewer, fire spokesman Mark Brady said. After about 40 minutes, the county collapse rescue team managed to get the dog out of the sewer.

Apparently a manhole cover accidentally was removed by a snowplow and the dog dropped through the hole, falling about 20 feet into the drain.
