Dining Out With Your Dog

In these freezing temps, it's tough to picture dining al fresco with Fido, but it could soon happen in Frederick County -- at least, once the weather warms up.

Sen. Alexander Mooney (R-Dist. 3) is proposing a measure to give county commissioners the power to allow people to dine with their dogs on restaurant patios, reports the Frederick Gazette.

"We met with the city back in the fall, and it was my understanding that it was very important to them," Mooney told the Gazette.

Wow. THAT'S the most important thing this guy can think to do right now? OH YEAH, HE's got a job. AND, apparently, money to spend at Outdoor Cafes. Yay for him and, I guess, his dog.
Meanwhile we're struggling with being unemployed and keeping food in our refrigerator, and the lights and heat on. I guess we all have our own priorities.

Thats good! Having been in many pubs in the Uk with dogs in them never hurt me, and this is outside dining. Hear hear, or woof woof!

I realize times are tough and this doesn't seem very important. But when times are tough, sometimes it's the little things that make life enjoyable. Soooo, if it makes people happy to dine with the pooch - well ok. I would do it if it was allowed in our county. Let it be - let it be, let it be yeah let it be.

that's just plain NASTY!!

I'd never patronize a restaurant that allows "pets"

leave your dog home

I would rather eat with my dog any day than some people I know. My dog has manners! Texas has had outdoor cafes where dogs were welcome since the 80's.

It is always a blessing to dine with one that loves you unconditionally.

What you buch of wet pants libs!

we need to take action NOW to ensure this measure never see's the light of day- you dont want your children to be exposed to dog dander at the pizza hut do you?! I dont care if some people are too lonely to know other PEOPLE to eat with- stay at home with your flea ridden pets.

6:21 My dog is cleaner than most cooks in the kitchens of any pizza hut on the shore HANDS DOWN!! You should expose your kids to more germs so they have a built up immunity!

LOL I thought the people who dressed their dogs in costumes and little outfits were ridiculous but this takes the cake.
Look,I love animals but they ARE animals. They are not living dashboard ornaments as some people seem to think, but companion animals. We have more important stuff for our elected officials to work on,especially considering all the people out there who lost their jobs and barely afford to care for themselves and their pets, let alone money to take the dog out to eat.

blutojthetotmom,

Why don't you worry about your children and I will worry about my dogs. I can almost guarantee that my dogs are better behaved than your children! I am sick of screaming kids ruining my dinner, maybe we should have some law to keep them out of restaurants.
