LOCATION: Southbound Hobbs Road north of Rt. 50, Salisbury, Wicomico County, Maryland
BRIEF RESUME:
. On the above date and time, MSP investigated a personal injury collision at the above location. Vehicle #1 was traveling northbound on Hobbs Road north of Rt. 50. Vehicle #2 was traveling southbound on Hobbs Road. Vehicle #1 was a Perdue tractor and trailer operated by the above listed driver. Vehicle #2 was a marked Maryland State Police vehicle operated by Detective Sergeant Dalfonso whom is currently assigned to the Princess Anne Barrack. The investigation conducted on scene revealed that vehicle #1 traveled from the northbound lane, across the double yellow line and into the southbound lane in front of vehicle #2. The collision between vehicle #1 and vehicle #2 was head on. The operators of both vehicles were transported to Peninsula Regional Medical Center (PRMC) for apparent minor injuries. The operator of vehicle #1 was cited for failure to drive right of center and negligent driving.

I would bet anything the the truck will face more punishment than the state trooper that killed a lady last year on Vienna Bridge.
and more punishment then the girl who killed the truck driver on the bay bridge last year.
I'm glad there were only minor injuries. There are too many distractions for driver's these days. Let's pay attention people!
yep more than likely... Also it appears that the one semi truck is still on it's side of the road and the MSP trooper is not... And if you look at the angles of each persons' front end if the MSP trooper was going south then he crossed the line based on how his front is smashed up and to the left if your facing it, which means he had to cross the line for it to be hit that way, cuz had he swerved as most would have as an reaction, he would have went opposite of the semi truck which means the smashed front would be up and to the right if your facing the troopers car...
I bet it was the cops fault yet again but since this is the 2nd crash in a week with a MSP cop, i think they are trying to cover it up... Also to point out, why did they not check the cops camera seeing how all MSP and wicomico county cops have dash cams...
Anon: 3:58 do not speak of what you dont know. Both the truck driver and the trooper from last years accident on the bridge were cited for negligent driving. Check the district court judicial website. In fact the trooper did not get probation before judgement, which 99% of the people get. He did not becuase he is a trooper so he got 3 points. So in this case the truck driver made out better then the trooper from last year.
Ray Charles could see where the trailer is in the picture when the tractor was disabled from pulling it! There's enough forensic evidence in these pictures to destroy any charges they may want to make against the trucker!
The driver admitted to crossing the centerline,and multiple witnesses also observed it. I'd say the charge will probably stick.
I live on Zion Church Road and see these Perdue Trucks flying up and down our road ALL the time. It is just a matter of time before someone gets rear eneded or killed by one of these trucks while attempting to pull in their drive way, I just hope it is not one of my kids!
There was another Perdue tanker truck off the road just over the Virginia line this morning as well....
..in a somewhat related note, I have witnessed a dramatic decrease in speeding MSP cruisers in the area between Berlin, Vienna and Lynchwood since the recent Vienna crash. I have not seen any unmarked cars at all. If the attention to these recent accidents has resulted in the MSP to "dress down", that's a good thing. Let's hope the emphasis on everyone's safety prevails and that we have no more accidents "that could have been prevented".

Even if the trucker was across the center line, any vehicle seeing an obstruction in their own lane has to be able to stop in time to avoid an accident, or be charged with traveling too fast. That's the law in all states, period. It's the trooper's fault.
Can everyone just GROW UP?! quit judging fault. The point is, thank God neither driver was seriously injured!! Acidents are just what they are.....ACCIDENTS!!! Bet none of the previous comments came from anyone who was never found at fault for one huh?
Anon 8:10 you a moron. if you are traveling in opposite directions and someone crosses the center line heading toward you what good would it do to be able to stop even you could. They would more than likely still hit you. And it would be their fault. What you are saying would be in the case of a side impact crash.

4:32 With all due respect, an untrained eye looking at a picture does not Always show the facts. Even in a head on collision gravity and physics take over. A witness and professional reconstruction is how they prove who was in the right or wrong. I know this not from being any of the proffessionals, but by witnessing a horrific accident...It was stunning to say the least how 4 wheeled vehicles bounce and roll like a childs toy car, especially when it involves a semi. Believe me it was a horrific sight and one I don't care to ever wittness again. This accident could have been one or both victims' fault. It shouldn't matter, because they are alive.
The "dash cams" are not constantly recording and are only activated when the vehicles emergency equipment are on this is an automatically activated function. The cams can be manually activated by the officer either inside of or outside of the parol car.
I think that anyone who is so cynical about the MSP as to rail about an accident where the officer was clearly not at fault (boy if any of you were hit head on by one of these trucks and survived, I'd love to see the lawsuits coming out of it!) should be allowed to "opt out" of police protection. hmmm . . . 911 call to your house? Nope, sorry, you don't like the police, so you'll have to help yourself. Good luck!
Lets all just slow down and start paying better attention! This includes police too! No one should be exempt from the law.
As far as the officers onboard cameras go, I don't believe they are recording all the time. They automatically come on when the officers sirens/lights are on or unless the cop specifically has it recording...atleast everyone was safe, thats all that really matters!
I wasn’t there, but from what I see the point of impact is probably under the tractor portion of the truck. The mass of the truck and trailer stopped the police car and sent it backwards. The truck was coming at an angle over the center line or lane that is there. Upon impact and abrupt slowing of the tractor the trailer, at an angle, continued at original speed causing it to spin on its connection to the truck and pass the truck. Physics 101 was a benefit after all. Everyone is quick to blame the police. I highly doubt a Detective Sergeant driving a marked car was in a hurry to get anywhere.
