An email sent to students today:

Dear SU students,

This is a note to remind you of Salisbury University’s expectations of you as citizens in the community, particularly as the weather begins to warm.

****Know that you have a responsibility to the University and the community and that we expect you will exercise good judgment as well as practice good citizenship in the community.

****For those who intend to host or attend functions on or off-campus, please be considerate and respectful of your neighbors by paying careful attention to the noise level and taking responsibility for actions of your guests.

****Salisbury University Police Department, in partnership with local police agencies, is expected to have a greater presence in the community to help ensure a safe and civil community for all.

****Also know that any behavior (i.e., noise violations, underage possession/consumption, fighting, etc…) whether documented on or off-campus by university, city, or state officials will warrant action and/or consequences through the University’s judicial process.

Moreover, as we approach several upcoming sporting, concert, and festival events, students who engage in misconduct or disruptive behavior as defined by the Board of Regents Event-Related Misconduct Policy, are subject to suspension and will not be permitted admittance to any other institution in the University System of Maryland for the duration of the suspension.

I appreciate in advance your commitment to the University, the community, and to each other.

Respectfully,

Ed Cowell
Dean of Students
