Serious Injury Crash on Route 7 Turns Fatal

Pike Creek- Yesterday afternoon, DSP investigators arrested Mr. David Deloya, Jr., 18, of 5th Street in Wilmington, for his part in the fatal crash which occurred on Route 7 on July 15th, 2008.

Deloya responded to Troop 2 in Glasgow where he was formally charged with the following Traffic Code offenses: two counts of Operating a Vehicle Causing Death of Another Person, Failure to Drive at Appropriate Speed, Driving Without a License and Failure to Have Insurance. He was arraigned and released on a $4,075.00 unsecured bond.

Additionally, Deloya’s father, David Deloya, Sr., 43, also of 5th Street, was charged with the Traffic Code offense: Authorizing or Permitting the Operation of a Motor Vehicle by Another. He was released on a $25.00 unsecured bond. Investigators believe that the senior Deloya was allowing his son to drive his car knowing that his son was not licensed.
