What Do You Like About Your Home Town?

Many readers come to SBYNEWS to get the latest and greatest up to date information about what going on around town. Most of the time, the news is very negative. Although we need to know about crime, government and the misdeeds of others that affect our well being, we also need to know about what is right and beautiful with our country, state, and local homestead.

As we try to get past hump day and look towards a better life, what is in your surroundings that make you feel happy? I'm not looking for some hippy cumbaya stuff, just some things around you that stand out as being special. Is it your neighbors? Perhaps you place of employment? Maybe you like local sports, or your family church? Whatever it is, lets put a positive spin on this gloomy, rainy Wednesday.

I have a love hate relationship with Salisbury. I was born and raised here, and I know that if I did relocate I would end up right back here. My favorite thing about it is geographically - close to the beach, but not too close. I could never live farther from the beach than I do now.

The beautiful architectural work of the churches and the old victorian houses.

I have lived in Snow Hill for about eight years now and plan to die there. It is the best of "small town America!" There is lots of spirit for our Snow Hill student athletes. I love going to the High School games and having a chance to talk to so many people I know in the stands. I grew up in Columbia and never experienced the joys of small town country livin!!!

I love the fact that I can walk my property in Wicomico County and normally not hear street traffic or noise pollution.

I am looking forward to Waterfowl Festival in Easton this weekend. It's the only time of year that I will let myself eat a candy bar, so I choose the best - deep fried snickers!

I work in downtown Salisbury but live out in the country. I love it when I go out of the city limits and start heading home. It's like 2 different worlds. Peace comes over me and I automatically slow down and enjoy the beautiful scenery. I also love it when I get home each day from work, I walk into my house and our dog greets me with such excitement & love and acts like he hasn't seen me in days. It makes all of the problems of the day go away.

Salisbury: where hope, ambition, and dreams go to die.

Everyone has a terminal case of malaise, but most do not know what it means.

It is so sad to see people remember fondly what Salisbury WAS.

One thing I am still grateful for is the many kind people I've come to know, both born heres and come heres.

I hope we'll all continue to fight for our city. Those who have been in power have all but ruined it. But I still have hope in our new mayor, the two nice ladies on the council, and maybe the next election will deliver us.

May I take a moment to complement the people who spoke on Monday night? I watched on TV and actually cheered out loud.

I love that in 5 to 10 minutes I can drive into the country and enjoy the beautiful open spaces and scenery. It is also great to be so close to the beaches, especially Assateague. People drive for 3 to 4 hours through God-awful traffic just to get to the beach, and I can be there in 30 minutes. I also enjoy driving the back roads to where I want to go.

There are many things I like about Salisbury, but probably the best thing is that, living in the district I do, I have Debbie Campbell to represent me. Oh if only we had a few more like her! Our city would be an even nicer place to live.
