Do you want to pay more for your electricity? Probably not. Unfortunately, that could be in the cards unless you speak out!
On Tuesday, November 10th there will be a public hearing of the Maryland Public Service Commission at Salisbury University. The hearing will be at 7:00 PM in the Nanticoke Room (Room 236) of the Guerrieri Center.
One hearing has already been held in Salisbury. However, Delmarva Power advertised the hearing (and several others on the Shore) in a less than honest manner. (No mention was made of a rate increase). Fortunately (for rate payers) Del. Mike Smigiel (R-36) called Delmarva Power on their little game and the PSC has called for a new round of hearings.
I know that Tuesday will be a tough day. There is a WCBOE meeting (that has been moved to the afternoon so folks from the school board can go to the County Council hearing on Tuesday night and tell us that they don’t waste a dime, but “it’s for the children” anyway). At the same time Tuesday evening the Wicomico County council is holding a hearing on the disastrous Rick Pollitt budget proposal.
Try to hit both Tuesday night meetings. Go to SU first and register your opposition to higher electrical rates and then head over to the Civic Center. There will be plenty of county and BOE employees trying to argue their case at that one.

Our electric bill averages around $175 in the summer and jumps to around $500/month in the winter when we start using our electric heat(1100 sq. ft. home). It's ridiculous because that's when we use more electric, but that's also the same time each year the electric company raises their rates. Outrageous!!!
Br prepared for rates to MORE than DOUBLE when cap and tax kicks in.
Maryland is 5th highest in country for household rates.
Search "Biggest Losers" on this site for chart of MD's ranking asin top ten highest in country.

HELLO!!!! Cap and trade has been active in Maryland for the last several years! Wake up and smell the coffee!
That is why I always find it so funny when people on this site gripe about Kratovil voting for Cap and Trade, wake up people, he just did us a favor, He levelled the playing field for Maryland residents. We already have cap and trade with HIGHER standards than the feds are asking for.

Hey MD_Progressive, opps I meant 1:49. Are you on Kratovil's staff or are you just an ACORN troll posting B.S. on websites?

Where have you been?
Look at 'Biggest Loosers' ratings. You're 5th in high individual electricity rates.

I got a good giggle out of that comment but I dont see how having your head up your behind can be respectable lol
It all because of that Bush fellow! yeah that's it....his name is used for everything else. might as well lump him in with this one...
The last news cast I heard is DPL wants to raise the rates on the people that have a low usage. Can you beleive it? They want you to cut back, use their light bulbs, etc. and now they want to raise the rates. Crooks, all of them. When I get an electric bill that says I used $29.00 worth of electricity and it cost me $82.00 more to supply it, this is a crooked way of getting your money to line the pockets of these crooked politicians so they can keep getting their big bonuses.
Theres a power company in Va being forced to lower rates or give rebates to customers because they raised their rates and made mad profits last year on the backs of their customers.
We still rely on the big power companies and they monopoly they have with prices, there are alternatives when are we going to use them
