Kratovil Statement On Health Care Reform Legislation

Washington, DC – Rep. Frank Kratovil released the following statement regarding HR 3962.

“We need health care reform that reduces long-term health care spending and expands coverage, but we must find a fiscally sustainable approach to accomplish these goals. After months of thoroughly reviewing legislative proposals and speaking with constituents and stakeholders, I am not satisfied that this bill before us is a sustainable solution. While I applaud the efforts to improve this bill, I still am concerned that this bill does not do enough to bend the long-term cost curve and that it lacks adequate provisions to reduce the deficit and protect small businesses. While I will continue to work with my colleagues to pursue a better bill as this process continues, I do not support HR 3962 and will vote against it when it comes to the floor this weekend.”

You seem to be the one who doesnt get it- Frank is not "Dr NO!"
He is a blue dog democrat who wants fiscally responsible health care reform. He wants to eliminate "pre-existing condition" loopholes, expand coverages to the uninsured, and prevent medical bankruptcies from occuring in this country. There is no reason why we cant find a better solution than the way the system works today. Saying No to everything is plain old stupid. Look at Palin- she preaches abstinance- that worked real well in her own home, didnt it! Get real- we need health care reform, but not at any cost!

We need health care reform. Frank has voted against what was proposed and says he is working on an alternative. You've had enough time to come up with an alternative proposal. Come on Frank, be a man. You admit we need reform. Stop playing both sides of the fence.

No sane person believes that some improvements are needed in health care. Caving in to the trial lawyers will not bring a consensus. Government provided health care for the poor has been started with 2,000 walk in clinics needs to be expanded. Coverage for pre-existing conditions could be passed in one paragraph. Cross state purchase of insurance, is a little harder and might require two pages.
The trouble with doing the right thing for the people is politicans would lose payoffs and control of your life.

Seems strange that Kratovil only comes out and says he's against it after several tea parties and a march on Washington yesterday. Not much changed in the bill so why didn't he just come out and say he would vote against it months ago and he would have saved a lot of people a lot of time and money. In his heart I believe he wanted to vote for it and please Obama and Pelosi but he knows if he does he will never serve another term in congress.

Ditto,
The problem is that these politicians can't possibly fix anything without considering what is in it for them.
That's when the devil get into the details.

You were elected to vote yes on the most important legislation in 40yrs.

Why didn't he come out against the bill months ago?

Because it was introduced last Thursday... so it would, you know, be impossible.

And he said he would vote against the original House version of the bill, HR 3200. Maybe you weren't watching closely back in August.

But here's proof from back on August 31: http://weblogs.baltimoresun.com/news/local/politics/2009/08/mediscare_and_kratovil.html

"Kratovil says he is opposed to the House bill (HR 3200) as currently written. He has not yet had an opportunity to vote on the measure."

Those of you who are for this Heaalth Care Bill....if it passes you better watch out!
Sure it all looks good that everyone will have health care with no pre exisiting conditions etc. This is just a start to get the public approval to get it passed. I urge you to look at other Countries with Reform. Some if you are over a certain age, no transplant coverage for you. Sure this may not be important now. UNTIL YOU NEED IT! If you are over a certain age, you are last on the list. this may not be impportant to you now. UNTIL YOU ARE THAT AGE! Some reforms you have to wait months to seek medical advice that needs to be treated farily quickly. May not seem important to you now. UNTIL YOU NEED IT!
This is a disaster in the making. Something of this magnituded takes years to figure out. They can't even figure out Medicare for a population of people only over age 65. You really think they are going to figure this out for the entire population? We will have illegal immigrants covered, doctors dropping out due to low reimbursement, Hospitals closing due to lack of reimbursement from the Government (they are having trouble staying afloat now). Your resources to coverage is going to be less with more people now covered.

So I leave you this:
1. If you want less doctors
2. Longer Waits
3. Services NOT covered (cant
cover everything)
4. Small Business Owners going out
of business due to more taxes
5. More money out of your paycheck
6. Massive changes in the bill
later if it is passed

Then this bill is for you. God Help You!

6:52 AM,
You could not be more RIGHT. Had Obamacare passed a year ago, my wife would now be dead. Faulty tests revealed no problem with her heart. She kept passing out. We found a cardiologist that knew the previous test were wrong and he ordered a new series of tests.
The new tests revealed her heart periodicaly stopped and a pacemaker was implanted. She would not have received the second tests and she was too old to spend the money on. Thanks to NO obamacare, she can now long forward to many more years.
I know this will piss off the Kool Aid drinkers.
