Someone Needs To Put The Brakes On The Bricks

Some have flat out called this project a scam. One received a threatening letter from former Mayor Barrie Tilghman. Of course, it was all HOT AIR as the former Mayor enjoyed bullying the elderly. Heck, she liked bullying anyone she felt disagreed with her in any way.

Last Monday night at the Salisbury City Council Meeting, Lore' Chambers presented updates for "The Bricks" project and stated they would be raising $1,800,000.00 for the project. Of course, much of this will come from Grant Money. You know, money that doesn't cost the local taxpayer, (if you'll buy that BS).

Nevertheless, it was also made clear that only $1,000,000.00 of the money will go towards the actual construction of the project. The other $800,000.00 will go towards things like legal fees.

I don't know when you people will finally come to realize, Lore' Chambers and anyone who supports her efforts towards such project is the one who is scamming the citizens of Salisbury. Very much like Urban Salisbury, they search day in and day out for grant money projects, customize it to fit their wants and needs and let me also assure you of one thing, Mayor Jim Ireton is all about filing for these freebies. The democrats think, well, if we don't go for it, someone else will get it instead. So they create these BS positions like Lore" Chambers and create more bureaucracy.

OK, plain and simple. I own several properties in Wicomico County. Many of them are similar in size. ALL of them are in much better neighborhoods, (mind you). Now, would "I" consider purchasing a piece of property like "The Bricks" for let's say $60,000.00 and plan on dumping $1,800,000.00 into it for a few apartments? ABSOLUTELY NOT! Maybe $300,000.00 would be more like it. So the City/County/State is willing to piss away an additional $1,500,000.00 as a sort of pick me up project for a questionable community?

The Barrie Tilghman's, Jim Ireton's, Lore' Chambers of Salisbury have driven this City into the ground and are some of the very leaders that have also taken down the United States of America financially. $900,000.00 Fire Boats, developer reimbursements, $84,000,000.00 WWTP failures, $32,000,000.00 Zoo Master Plans, shall I go on!

Many have forgotten where they came from. At least in Delmar, MD. they had the funding to pay cash for their share of the new GOB in their Town. Salisbury continues to fall apart at an alarming pace and the taxpayers need to make projects like "The Bricks" come to an immediate halt. Someone is lining someone's pockets, period. $800,000.00 in additional legal fees and whatever else they're claiming proves just that. Hell, $1,000,000.00 just to renovate that building is clear evidence someone else is getting their pockets lined as well.

Let me start by saying I know about the Bricks. There is nothing to be gained by spending ANY public money on this "project". The city council MUST stop any further expenditures on what is clearly a waste of taxpayer money. The best thing they could do is offer it for sale with sealed bids, and let it go for what it goes for. There is no, I repeat, NO benefit to the public from this foolhardy project.

You can bet that Paul Wilber (and his law office) will be taking a very big slice of that cake.

i said months ago when this project came to light, that it was no good. if they insist on spending that much money and they cant be stopped, how many single family homes would that money build. wouldn't that be a better way to spend the money if you have to spend it? when will these politicians learn that they cannot keep spending money. they are ruining the entire country with their foolish ways. thanks sjd

Bricks is a joke .A well paying joke for some .Thanks for exposing this crock.

This afflicted punctuation IS NOT EASILY accomplished .Almost like Khadiff's UN interpreter, after an hour screaming, " I can't take it any more".

The Bricks was given as a donation and the "giver" was expected to get something back.
Except now certain people are no longer in office.

I suggested that instead of a tax rebate all homeowners should be given a 6 month reprieve on thier real estate taxes.
Someone said I must be an idiot because essntial services like road repair has to be paid for.
How about essential projects like the bricks?
How many more projects like the bricks are taxpayers paying for around the county, the state, and the country?
Dumbocrats just want ot tax and tax, and then look like heros when they give some back.
It's YOUR MONEY! They shouldn't have so much control over it to begin with!

I can think of alot of other things 1.8 mil could be used for in Salisbury, that would be more beneficial to residents than another tenement building

Lore Chambers is a joke! Maybe she should sell her Benz-o and invest her own money in this bizzare plot!

We must all watch this project closely.

If the city owns it then there are no tax dollars collected. WHY on earth would they take another income producing property off the tax rolls? Salisbury is run by idiots, complete and utter IDIOTS.

4:16 truer statements could not be said by anyone.

The City shouldn't apply for grants as long as no one else does. Then the State & the Feds won't have to re-invest our tax dollars. They can do something useful with them like build a bigger civil service.

Oh no, they won't do that.

They'll lower taxes! LOL

This is local elitism.

This is criminal.

Let's see; $400 a month times 8 apartments times 12 months equals $38,400 bucks, A million to fix the place up plus the interest to borrow it... payback will be here in about 75 years or more. THAT'S when we'll start turning a profit on this deal!

Or...

We could tear down 10 condemned houses, put in a single family modulars, and sell them to low income homeowners. Money back and profit in 5- 8 years...

Naw.. Plan A sounds better!

My,my,my, yet another land deal. My,my, I thought we elected Jim Ireton to stop this corruption.
My money, and the bastards keep takin it away from me, and givin it to the public officials, one way or another.

This is the perfect location for a brothel. Its in the right neighborhood for this project. That street is loaded with illegals who know how to do the renovation; and loaded with the hookers ( employees ) who are able to simply walk to work.
Fix it up, ho it out and tax the crap out of it , say 50% ho tax.
Throw a windmill on it to power the marquee and get a GREEN grant.
I bet Acorn can help get this going.

Hey Joe,
You can leave the county out of that argument. You can check with Pollitt's office, but I don't think They've got a dime in the bricks.
