Wicomico County Executive Richard M. Pollitt, Jr. announced today that representatives from both the county and state governments are available for speaking engagements at Wicomico County organizations.
Pollitt said that the county topic, “The State of Wicomico County,” is “very appropriate considering the challenging financial conditions that the state and county are facing.” The local speakers, county department heads, will also describe the service that their organizations provide to citizens of Wicomico County.
Mr. Pollit encourages county groups to contact Jim Fineran, county Public Information Officer, to schedule a speaker from the county or state government.

Unfortunately, Rick is listening to the same ones who used the same technique when the Revenue Cap was on the ballot. Their memory must not be as good as mine. They lost the battle. This time around their goal is to convince people that the Revenue Cap is stiffling the gov't for revenues to provide services. This might or might not be true but what Pollitt and his advisors are not reconigizing is that the people can't afford any additional taxes. We are stiffling in our own lives and we are doing without lots of things that use to be easy to come by. Pollitt is a good man but he is unfortunately listening to the wrong people. He needs to listen to the people who work by the day. Many of them have lost their jobs, had their hours cut, doing without needed items, all of this creating a change in their normal lifestyle. This is reality and Pollitt needs to understand this.
The first one to sign up will be the Greater Salisbury Committee. I'm sure they think they will be able bully the community into overturning the revenue cap. They just won't accept the fact they no longer have power for political influence. Then the county powers to be will decide they need to go out to communities and have "townhall" meetings. I think Congress has just learned the hard lesson on that issue. People of hurting. Accept the fact and cut where you have to but don't increase our fees and taxes.
Will these dept.heads get comp time for attending these meetings? I'm sure they will. What Mr Pollitt and the dept.heads need to do is dwell on their work and not trying to advance their agenda of getting rid of the cap.WAKE UP MR POLLITT
Mr. Pollitt needs take advice from a new mindset. He has kept the same ones that are responsible for the cap. He was warned.
Here we go again, Pollitt just won't leave well enough alone with the Revenue Cap. He should know by now that is the only saving grace measure for our citizenry in this paultry economy.
Why doesn't he spend his time in more fruitful endeavors like a State succession move away from the Western Shore. Surely he can put 2 and 2 together.

Let me just say this, if you think that we are going to let you get rid of the revenue cap you are wrong.
The ratio on the county council will be changing, you should concentrate on the BOE and "assisting" those on the council to come up with pro business job creating policies.
Looks as if Pollitt is trying to justify Finerans job. He needs to justify why his office budjet is almost $500.000.00 a year.If the taxpayers had known this maybe they would not of voted for a change in gov't.
Maybe they can speak at bike week.
