How Brew River Will Get Away With Metered Parking

Even though it's your parking lot, even though there are metered parking spaces in the parking lot, some how, some way, Frank Hannah used Comegys & Co. to put in this new Electronic Parking Meters, (similar to Ocean City) where they have requested certain parking spaces designated to Brew River in which Frank claims Brew River will pay for people to park there IF they're customers of Brew River.

While some Council Members, (I'm sure you can guess who) suggested Frank Hannah pay them a yearly fee for those spaces instead, the majority of the Council chose NOT to do that and we can assure you your revenues will certainly decrease now, even though YOU just spent all this money for this equipment.

Karen Reddison sold the project top the City and Karen Reddison oversees that department that gives out tickets. Can you say, conflict of interest? Help is on the way???????

Personally I like the meters. Ideally you don't want them there but its a public parking lot and almost everyone knew the deal when Brew River opened...so why start bitching now?

Come on..

It's "Hanna"!

ok...so here's the deal...we pay for the meters, a one time cost (hopefully) but the real cost is incurred on monitoring. We are going to have to pay an "meter maid" to monitor for expired parking. This is actually a bit harder than traditional parking meters because you have to go up to each car and look at the time on each ticket, not just simply looking for red expired meters. So who is going to pay for the meter maid? I imagine that there could be quite a number of meter violations everyday-I dare the city to allow Brew River employees to write tickets...Folks, if that occurs ONLY PAY TICKETS ISSUED BY CITY OFFICIALS/EMPLOYEES!

In addition, is there a cut off time for paid parking? I can tell you this much, if Brew River intends on paying for parking it isn't worth the hassle. It is hard enough to get drink service there late at night on the weekends, much less trying to get them to validate your parking...

This is a nightmare in the making and Frank Hannah just signed his business's death certificate-I know I will not eat/drink there if I have to pay for parking or have to go through the hassle of getting my parking validated.

Does anyone realize that Market Street is also metered parking? As is almost everyother business/ restaurant downtown? Why is this so shocking? If Brew River actually owned that parking lot you can ensure this would not be happening..but that is not the case. The city owns it and it has to be maintained!

I'm sure they wont be there long. Someone will destroy them trying to get money out of them.

Why is Brew River treated so much more favorably than other restaurants in the city with metered parking?

I am confused as to how you think they are being treated dfferently? Sure they have a new meter system but hello...as the years go on new things are good! And sure BR gets a few parking spaced "meter-free" but maybe those parking spots fall on their actual property? Not sure about that but it seems it would be a reasonable assumption.

Hanna is rich, why the hell cant he buy his own parking lot?No wonder the rich keep getting richer.

My recollection is that the city paid for his parking lot in the first place. Dude you are taking on the fat cat powerin Salisbury now you know. Frank flies under the radar.

Geez....bunch of haters on here. It would seem to me that Frank Hanna Sr. can't do anything about this...as its the city's property. Also, I like the new meters, they are WAY easier to operate and you can use a CC - its such a pain to go downtown if you don't have any quarters. Give it up - the Hanna's are not bad people, they do alot of good in this town - can you say the same?

Henry Hanna does a lot of good for this town. Frank Hanna's only contribution was to get his name on a building at the socalled "not for profit" hospital. I've done business with this ruthless SOB. He cares about no one but himself. The food sucks, the service sucks, the parking sucks and Frank sucks. The only restaurant that is worse than Brew River is Harpoon Hannas. Remember Mr. Potter, the evil rich man who tried to control everything in the movie "It's A Wonderful Life"? That's Frank Hanna!

The meters are useless to a motorcyclist like myself..I ran into these at OC and left right away. If they insist on these type of parking meters they will never get my bussiness, just like OC....

Frank Hanna just donated 1.5 million to the new out patient center at PRMC... that will one day be taking care of all of us in our lives!!! All the people who read this and write hateful things on here about Brew River and Frank Sr. really have no clue what they are talking about. I consider Frank a friend of mine and his family is first class genuine people and they all love Salisbury and want to do "good" for it. Is it a crime to try and run a successful business? while bringing a good atmosphere downtown. Isn't this what URBAN SALISBURY wants? Frank just had the stones to do it on his own. Enjoy it! Don't say you want a better Salisbury then bad mouth anything that is positive. Brew River has given jobs to hundreds in the area, you really want them to shut down and put a hundred employees without jobs? Frank has earned everything he owns and started basically from scratch. If all the hateful bloggers had more drive like him and stop worrying about petty things, Salisbury would be a much better place to live in. Think about what you are actually saying before you post it?

Btw Brew River is a great restaurant and bar - live a little and try it some time.
