Creative Thinking

They walked in tandem, each of the ninety-two students filing into the already crowded auditorium. With their rich maroon gowns flowing .. and the traditional caps, they looked almost .. as grown up as they felt.

Dads swallowed hard behind broad smiles, and Moms freely brushed away tears.

This class would NOT pray during the commencements----not by choice, but because of a recent court ruling prohibiting it.

The principal and several students were careful to stay within the guidelines allowed by the ruling. They gave inspirational and challenging speeches, but no one mentioned divine guidance and no one asked for blessings on the graduates or their families.

The speeches were nice, but they were routine.....until the final speech received a standing ovation.

A solitary student walked proudly to the microphone. He stood still and silent for just a moment, and then, it happened.

All 92 students, every single one of them, suddenly SNEEZED!!!!

The student on stage.. simply looked at the audience and said,

'GOD BLESS YOU, each and every one of you!' And he walked off stage...

The audience exploded into applause. This graduating class had found a unique way to invoke God's blessing on their future with or without the court's approval.

Isn't this a wonderful story? Pass it on to all your friends.........and

GOD BLESS YOU!!!!

This is a true story; it happened at the University of Maryland.

How about you Jesus freaks quit pushing your silly beliefs on the public at a PUBLIC university. If you want to practice such behavior go to a PRIVATE university. Besides such foolish beliefs have no place in an institution of higher learning.

What kind of graduation from U of MD has only 92 graduates?

8:34 I have a better idea. Why don't you just take your belief to another part of the world. God bless America. Also may God bless you!!

Am I not free to practice my own religion or lack thereof here in America. Christians are so hypocritical. Great mindframe... Agree with my views or leave. Why dont you agree with my views or leave.

If you need the government's permission to speak to your god, then, you are worshipping the government!

tol⋅er⋅ance [tol-er-uhns]
–noun
1.a fair, objective, and permissive attitude toward those whose opinions, practices, race, religion, nationality, etc., differ from one's own; freedom from bigotry.

2. a fair, objective, and permissive attitude toward opinions and practices that differ from one's own.

Applies to everything but Christianity.

"God Bless You" doesn't necessarily refer to Christianity, you know. Saying "God bless you" does not make one a "Jesus freak." Many, many people use the word "God" to signify the highter power they believe in.

I have another word to go along with "tolerance":

coexist

1. To exist together, at the same time, or in the same place.
2. To live in peace with another or others despite differences.

Anon 59, we do allow you to practice your own religion. You can practice it everyday 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Christians on the other hand, have to cater to the views of the few, the whims of any person who cannot stand others who want to acknowledge their God for what he has done in his/her life. If you don't believe just sit their quietly for the few minutes the speaker is thanking his/her God and we'll sit quietly while you acknowlege whatever you feel is your inspiration in life.

Im not the one you need to convince of such an arrangement as I already agree with your view. Your fellow Christians push their beliefs on others. As previously commented in this string where I was told that If Im not a Christian I should leave the country. Association of rampant idiocracy...
