I think you mean 113

That's lower than any "gas war" in my lifetime! I saw 3.9cents once around 1959 I think.

I believe that this misplaced their decimal point, and it should have been $2.68 a gallon -- about average to other stations in the area.

Someone's head will probably roll over this one.

Might be theft but it never hurts to stick it to "them" once in a while. Give it to them before they give it to you. Anything in moderation!

That happened to a family member at the new Royal Farms on RT.50. They are honest so they went in to make it right and let the management know that their pump was screwed up.

All that means is the poor shmuck who programed the computer in the pump will lose his job. So you get cheap gas and we have one more statistic for the unemployment line. Oh yeah....you and I will end up paying more for that!

That's less than the tax on a gallon!

That never happens when I'm nearby, darn it.

I just hope that the owner of this station doesn't end up out of business because of the losses sustained due to employee error and the public's willingness to take advantage and screw him. It's a sad commentary on the integrity of those who chose to do so. Sad.

How is it theft, if a person pays the price a business sets?

Anonymous said...

Did you tell the vendor he had obviously made a mistake?

You have to use your credit card at that station. I wonder if they will charge the correct amount to your card when they figure out whats wrong?

Another thing... you do realize these stations/marts do not make their money off gas. Its only a few cents per gallon. Their money is made by selling sodas and food.
If it was an employee who made an honest mistake I hope he would not be fired.

come on people be honest. gas stations dont make money on gas anyway.

Wow, Joe. I hope you feel good about ripping off a small business owner.

While Steve thinks you "stuck it to the man," BP isn't going to lose any money over this. Some poor small business owner WILL.

Did we not have a discussion about a CD at Wal-Mart being priced at $0.00 recently? And was it not the concensus that it was an obvious error and the customer should have not really expected to get it for free?

Same applies here. The price is obviously a mistake, and sorry, Joe, but you took advantage of it. Not only that, you've posted it and encouraged people to also take advantage of it. Where is your integrity, Joe? Would you, were you a store owner, want someone to do this to you?

I would have filled up all of my vehicles too... then I might have told them. To the folks that think that gas stations don't make money on gas... that is a thing of the past. Ever since last summer when gas spiked to over $4.00 per gallon gas stations have been sticking it to us! Every notice how years ago every single gas station was within one penny of each other on their price... and now its all over the place. There are all kinds of inconsistencies in the pricing now.. the owners figure that cusotmers will pretty much pay anything within 10-15 cents of what they think the "going" rate is because everyone is so excited that gas isn't $4.00 per gallon. Trust me... they are laughing all the way to the bank.

Anyone who thinks that gas stations don't make money off gas is either extremely naive or just plain stupid.
