To The People Reading This Blog From Around The World.....

Yes, this is a street near the heart of the City of Salisbury created and designed by some of the biggest Idiots on the Eastern Shore.

I'd love to hear every one's input on if anyone else has ever seen a street anywhere like this in the entire UNITED STATES OF AMERICA?

My wife and I discuss this almost on a daily basis.

I guess that is why they call this town Salisbury.

Someone should submit a definition to Websters dictionary for Salisbury and then put a photograph of this street to help to clarify the meaning of the word.

You're absolutely right, it must of been a bunch of idiots who designed this mess.

And Lord help the fire department should a really bad fire strike the heart of the City. The fire trucks coming down the street would look like something out of the Three Stooges.

Well there is Lombard St in San Francisco but, that IS on a hill and it IS well landscaped. Nevermind, no comparison.

Ha ha great post! These comments should be good. True story: A friend of mine was riding down this street whit their kid in the back and the kid says "Mommy, why are you driving crazy?"

Where is this???

I hate this street, I can't wait to find out how many accidents happen when we get SNOW. You will not be able to see the "so called landscaping".

I was going to us the same example. I think there is a comparison. Lombard Street is going downhill. Thanks to the "vision" of our leaders, so is Salisbury.

The firemen straighten it out let every one else do the same

Thats when it isnt congested with traffic from the bridge being up

did barrie paint those street lines on her way home from market street?

Joe,

The fellow that runs the Greater Greater Washington blog would comment favorably on what was done to Isabel Street. Believe or not there are tens of thousands of "smart growth", "pedestrian friendly" planners and urban dwellers that hate the freedom that the automobiles has brought to the world that love that kind of stuff.

Joe, Looks like a driving course for impaired drivers.WWTplant Mayor Tilghman.

This was done by the Mayor for her pals Michael Day and Robin Cockey. This street is no different than any other, except there are political friends of the Mayor living there and they do not want any outsiders transversing through their neighborhood. It is one of the most rediculous traffic patterns that you will ever see and a total waste of tax dollars. Only in Salisbury can this happen.

I think the intent was to "calm" and slow speedy traffic (for the mayor's friends, anyway).

The problems weren't really thought through, from the fire vehicles to the snow issue (curb gouging, anyone? great sport)

The road to hell is paved with "good intentions." LOL.

i dont think this was explained in drivers ed. im sure it would weed out all the bad drivers. maybe the police should sit at the end and watch for people who just cant make the turns... they might be drunk or old! If you had an accident on that street, how would people get around it? or would they all have to back out? It all just seems like a bad idea. Careful, they might want to lay bricks in so that the street looks like Main St. to deter skateboarders.(which doesnt work)

Yes, I believe there is a street much like this on the Watkins Glen road course racetrack in New York.

I'd like this done on my street, the way thay race up and down. But then I couldn't drive on it myself, I'd throw up.

I haven't seen anything like this anywhere else, and I've been a lot of place. Did Bubba do the planning for this? I haven't been to town lately so hadn't been on Isabella. Why couldn't they use "speed humps" or "speed tables" like other places do? I guess it could be worse; they could've put in a traffic circle in the middle, even where there isn't an intersecting street! Are the FOB's going to be responsible for the upkeep on "their" planters?

"Calming"... yea, it "calms" me alright. <- That's sarcasm.

This looks like they created it in their own image, Crooked & Wavering!

Knowing the Salisbury police they are probably staked out ready to stop drivers for swerving

Anonymous said...

Its a horrible design. the question is, how many people are going to die in accidents as a result of this poor road construction plan?

"the road to hell is paved with good intentions!"

now that was freakin hilarious! old cliche is perfect here!

If the farmer's almanac is right - this winter will prove how well they CAN'T plow Isabella (not that they do so well around here anyway) and make so some great insurance claims too!! How great!

My kids go to SMS and West Salisbury. I have to drive that street 3-4 days a week and now I have to do it all over again. Biggest piece of crap I've seen!! STUPID!

Speed bumps are sometimes called dead policemen. No offence to police officers.

Instead of speed bumps how about a dead mayor bump, a dead chief bump and three dead city council member bumps. That should be enough to slow'em down. And we could be killing two birds wtih one stone as they say. Don't you think?

I actually thought about suing the city over this. I smashed my tire into one of those stupid curbs trying to avoid a truck swerving over the lines into my lane. What happens when two cars collide head-on from a hazard that never belonged there in the first place?

Get ready people. This is actually the cutting edge in traffic control. Expect to see more of this, traffic circles, narrower lanes and other strategies they are having success with in Europe.

this road makes me feel like im in a race! when no other cars are in front or behind,,i let it rip! i got up to 54mph!

Yeh, our tax dollars being waisted (yes I know it was done partly with a grant, but that grant is tax dollars too)! It should be the laughing stock of town when it does snow good on this configuration.

Know how I drive down Isabella st.?
I HONK my horn to let other drivers know I'm there well before I'm near them. I also honk at night to make sure any animals in the road have a chance to get out of the way. My hand sometimes slips off the wheel and I honk by mistake. I hope the neighbors don't mind the noise, But I am driving slower.

I drove by there yesterday and saw construction...I guess this picture is recent????

I know why it's like that because people speed. There are a lot of streets here where the speed limit is abused, those people's children are as important as those of Newtown.

Beside's, lean times like these speed bumbs would have been suffient.

I drive down the middle of the street, when theirs no other cars around.

It's beautiful...how can we get one in our neighborhood???
