OFFICER DOWN

Last night an emergency call went out stating an Officer was down. Fortunately this was not a life threatening situation and the Officer is recovering from his injury.

The Maryland State Police and the Wicomico County Sheriff's Office responded to a call in Quantico. Allegedly the suspect t fled into the woods where the K-9 Dog and Officer went into the woods after the suspect. The Officer fell into a hole and twisted his ankle enough he couldn't walk on it.

Now came the bigger problem, finding him in the pitch dark deep in the woods. Several Officers arrived and the State Police Helicopter was able to help locate the injured Officer and get him back to the Ambulance where they could then take him to the Hospital.

In doing so, one State Trooper was actually bit by the K-9 Dog trying to help out. Hopefully we get an update on the Sheriff's Deputy that was injured. No word on the suspect either.

The Sheriff's Deputy is fine (Glass - that's funny!), no obvious break or sprain.

As for the Trooper, the K-9 got his leg, but he's ok too.

Just so you know, glass man gets hurt so much they have a special workman's comp named just for him!

And why does he still have a dog? Glassman is out more then he works. What a waste of a dog. Didn't he just return to work after being out?

say what you idiots want but i'm sure the Sheriff's office misses him and his canine. both are excellent employees of the dept

Hope Mike Lewis looks into this deputys abuse of sick leave. Hunter Nelms would laugh amd make jokes about it.

554 your comment is so on target the k-9 is such an excellent employee. Its a shame that because; his handler is out sick all the time he doesn't get used.

It is obvious this guy has some issues, but in all fairness is this place to post it. I see the concern however, I am sure that Sheriff lewis is on top of this issue. As for the Deputy get well soon. As for the K-9 get it in the hands of someone that will utilize it in the best interest of the Sheriff's Office. Get the Deputy the help he desrves

Maybe the Sheriff should consider giving the cannie to the new deputy from OCPD. I hear she is a former handler. And shows up for work.
