Fundraiser For The Main Street Gym

Fernando Guerrero came to Salisbury, Maryland at the age of 11. Three years
later he began boxing at Main Street Gym. His trainer and manager Hal Chernoff
saw Guerrero's potential. As an amateur fighter he compiled an impressive 130-10
record. He turned professional in December of 2008 after just missing the cut
for the Olympics. His record now stands at 9-0, with 9 knock-outs.

But, it is what Fernando does outside of the ring that has made him such a high
profile figure in Wicomico County. His dedication to the youth in the area truly
sets him apart. As a Wicomico Mentor, he spends afternoons working with at-risk
youth at Main Street Gym. Fernando also attends events, like Field Day, at his
former schools.

On September 13th a benefit will be held at Chef Fred's in Salisbury for
Fernando and Main Street Gym, a non-profit organization. The night will
include wine and hor d'oeuvres. There will also be a silent auction including
jewelry from Kuhn's, Market Street, sports memorabilia, and much more. Tickets
for the event are $100 - checks can be made out to Main Street Gym.

Tickets will be available at Salisbury News 300 W. Main Street on the Downtown Plaza. There are only 125 tickets to be had so it is a first come, first serve event. Remember Ladies & Gentlemen, Hal Chernoff has spent years working his heart out for hundreds of children throughout the years offering them an incredible place to structure their lives. The $100.00 per ticket is really a donation to the Main Street Gym. Jennifer and I will be attending and every single person I have called so far has agreed to attend. That being said, please don't wait to get your tickets as I can assure you this will be sold out extremely fast!

My contact information is above and I cannot hold tickets for anyone calling in. You truly need to come by from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM to get your tickets.

Tim, the "old" gym is locate in the old bus garage across from burnett-white tire. Its right behind go-getters and opens by at least 6 mon-friday. The new gym which Hal is working on now is right off northwood drive behind a new electrical supply building. What a wonderful change its going to be!
