What's the true purpose of the emergency broadcast system on TV? Why wasn't it used during the 9/11 attacks?

Anonymous said...: It was developed to be used in the case of nucler attack. It then was updated to provide "local" warnings to citizens. i.e. severe weather, or local emergencyand to provide specific actions to take.

9-11 was a national tragedy but it was a local emergency in the NY,VA and PA areas. No reason to tell people in Iowa to stay away from certain roads.; July 23, 2008 at 7:52 PM
