I Thank You!

As many of you know, I'm not one of those soft mushy kind of guys that walks around with his head looking towards the ground and shy.

However, I have to tell you, I'm amazed, (as well as my Wife) at just how many people are coming up to us each and every day thanking me for what I'm doing and showing us all the support you have offered us.

Today, my Wife, my Mother In Law and I were shopping in Sam's Club and were approached several times by other people shopping and they'd say, "are you Joe Albero?" Yes. I just wanted to thank you for everything you're doing, we go to your Site every single day.

You know, for the longest time I had been telling my friends and even my Wife just how often that happens and they'd say, yeah Joe, OK. Well, I've been fortunate enough to get out quite a bit lately with my Wife and all of a sudden I'd hear her on her cell phone talking to friends explaining just how often this happens.

There's no question in my mind that Mayor Barrie Tilghman, Chief Webster, Chief See, Deputy Chief Gordy and many others have come to realize that when I say there are thousands upon thousands of people coming to this Site every day in support, it can no longer be questioned, it's a fact.

Even the Daily Times, (Greg Bassett) has congratulated me on the volume of people that come to this Site. Thank You Greg.

Nevertheless, the idea of this Blog is to open the eyes of everyone left clueless as to the true goings on in Salisbury. Look, you can't completely knock the Daily Times. I say that because they have a very different kind of responsibility when it comes to telling the News. Granted, don't think I'm completely supporting them because I'm not. One would think after the three years that I have been doing this, people want to know the truth without a Barrie Tilghman spin put on most articles found there. However, they're selling papers and the City creates a ton of income for that Newspaper.

Anyhow, go back 2 to 3 years ago and think about what people were saying. Joe's is a nut job. Joe's is a liar. All those things he was saying about the Zoo is a lie. There were so many people that thought I was crazy to think Barrie Tilghman was full of sh!t and or lying. Granted, I had to get as rough with them as they were getting with me. As you have seen in past months however, I've been able to tone things down quite a bit and even I am enjoying this Blog more and more every day.

The bottom line is, I can't thank all of you enough for all of the support. We don't hear that too often but when I'm out and about, WOW! So I thank ALL of you for that support. I need to throw this one out to you as well. I truly enjoy meeting all of you but please, don't knock me if I see you for a second time and I forget your name, please? I'm just horrible with names.

In closing, again, Thank You! All I ask is that you please ask your friends, neighbors and family to get out there and vote. I'm working 16 hours a day on this Blog to educate everyone as to what's going on out there. Your vote is so important this upcoming election. YOU need to show this Mayor, Gary Comegys and others that you're not going to take it any more.

Keep up the good work Joe. The collaboration you have put together with others covering many topics and perspectives is a positive, sports, classified etc. just makes it that much better. I'm not quite to that age yet that I find it a necessity to read the obituaries, but one day, hope I live long enough to find it a necessity. Peace

Joe, Just a thought. With your absent from the zoo for a time with your consent. How wonderful and unnerving a picnic at Bens Red Swings at the enterance to the Salis.Zoo would be to WWTP Tilghman.

This has become a site I visit several times each day. I trust this place to keep me informed on what REALLY goes on in our community.

Joe, thank your Wife for sharing your time with your community.

Keep up the good work!

Joe, I am hoping you keep pounding this message into people's brains about the election (city) next year. Also, don't take the candidates at face value. Find out what they have done in the past, what they are doing now, and what they plan to do in the future. We don't want another "Smith" fiasco!

Joe, I also was in Sam's today and saw the Sby-News T-shirt and was on my way to introduce myself and give you kudos on the site but someone came up and started talking to you. I then saw you in line at the snack-bar and was going again to introduce my self but someone beat me to it again. I didn't want to bother you and your family after that but I had good intentions. Maybe another day I can get the chance to meet you.

Until then keep up the great work

You're doing God's work, bringing truth and light to an otherwise dark and dank atmosphere.
Please keep doing what you're doing. It's appreciated more than you know.

Good job Joe!

I thank you for giving the lower shore some good brutal exposure. A lot of times I don't agree with what you post, or can easily play devil's advocate for the other side. With that said, this is a blog, not a newspaper. You are allowed to show bias, allowed through mud, and allowed to make this Albero land if you want. It's the "newspapers" that should show no bias, and we know that's a load of shit.

So I say, "Keep it up, do what you do". Just remember, like in field of dreams, "Build it, and they will come." You don't need to compare your blog with the Daily Times, or try to out do them, or try to put them under. They make their own bed.

Tax Guy,

Thank You! I know you and I do not see eye to eye all the time but that's healthy. The idea is to debate the issues. Trust me, there are many srticle I don't want to put up, yet I know a lot of people and they ask frequently if I would at time put up their point of view, hence the Kratovil article yesterday.

That was certainly NOT an easy thing for me to do but right is right and I have to be fair.

When it comes to putting the Daily Rag out of business, I hope you know I truly don't want to see that happen. In time, (and we're already seeing it) the Daily Times will realize that being more open will sell one hell of a lot more papers but change is something that more than likely will require getting rid of some of the "old school and habit" kind of employees there.

So you know, I work VERY closely with WBOC and WMDT, hence your seeing much of what you see during the day on Salisbury News showing up at 6:00 & 11:00 every evening on their Shows. I do not have that same working relationship with the Daily Times because they scare their reporters away from me. Trust me though, the majority of their Staff read my Blog all day long and they too get moist of their articles from me days later.

Now, that's not a bad thing at all because you never heard those kind of stories coming from them before Salisbury News came along. We're making a difference a little bit at a time.

So lets continue to have healthy debates on issues and agree to disagree at times, that's cool. Thanks for the support and visiting so regularly and I hope I get to meet you one on one some time soon as well.

Joe, just keep up the good work! It is about time we heard the REAL news around here and we are no longer kept in the dark like we have been for so long. It's funny how things have been kept hush-hush for all of these years and you have the cohoneys to tell it like it is! Everyone has their own opinion about things and there are always going to be disagreements, but at least we can speak our minds and at the same time get the news. Some of us write anonymously, and for those of you who think that Joe is writing these...you're wrong. I choose to stay anonymous because of where I work. Thanks again, Joe, I'm one of those standing right there beside you!

I'd like to know why you support a company like Wal-Mart/Sam's Club. The company not only destroys local business, they encourage their employees to go on welfare/food stamps and do not even offer prices as competitive as they'd like you to believe. Why, as someone so concerned about this city's success, do you shop there?

Anonymous said...

I am a new viewer and I enjoy all you put out their. I do have to agree with another Anonymous person that posted yesterday or the day before about the Closing Down of Daily Times. No one in Salisbury would want to see that many people put out of work, especially now. Not even you. Maybe try to work with those guys, they can help you reach out to a broader audience while you can obviously print/post what they are not allowed to say. I think with alittle brain storming you guys could both help each other out and take over this area.

Just a thought!

anonymous 4:41,

First of all, I have every right to shop wherever I choose, this is America. Granted, it's Salisbury but its still in America.

The rest of your BS stort about how they encourage their people to go on welfare is just a complete crock of sh!t.

They provide an ease for shopping as well as very competitive prices. Don't point a finger at me, look around and you'll see every single one of your neighbors shop there too, get used to it.

anonymous 4:43, welcome to Salisbury News. I certainly would not like to see all those people losing their jobs, much like I'd not like to see 8,000 people lose their jobs at the local Perdue Plant. However, it's only a matter of time before they bolt out of here because the Mayor needs that water and sewer allocation from them because they lied about how much they'll have available after $84,000,000.00 was spent on a pie in the sky lie.

There's absolutely no chance I could work with the Daily Times, sorry, no can do. I have watched them butcher up extremely well written articles and I'll play no part of their games. They have their style, I have mine. Ultimately however, Gannett Publications will fail, just like Starbucks and many other businesses around the Country. The Daily Times screwed up when they purchased that $3,000,000.00 Press and relocated out of their building.

Now, did they make that decision because Salisbury News was starting to impact them? I can't truthfully answer that. However, I will say it certainly wasn't because old man Duvall put any pressure on them with his GO HERE, GO THERE posts. I do believe it was their last effort shot to stay competitive and it didn't work.

That being said, it's a race to see who will hold a larger volume audience and unless they go to a complete on line newspaper and stop charging for the paper, Salisbury News will crush them as I have no interest in going the print route.

Get used to it Folks, the Daily Times is quickly becoming the has been of the Eastern Shore. If they'll fire a 48 year long enployee, YOU'RE NEXT!

New Guy,
Joe thinks he is Mr. Perfect and alot of his clonies on here kiss his ass because it is his blog. He only posts what he wants. He trashes everyone he doesn't like on this blog and thinks he is perfect..and NO JOE...I am not David See!! Every time someone disagrees with him he claims it is David See, Bill Gordy, the Mayor or the Police Chief. There are alot of people out there that think you are a peice of shit Joe and alot of them read your blog because it is like the Enquirer Online. That is where most of your so called hits are coming from.

The paper has two choices, side with the citizens whether it offends those that hold office or not. Or just close their doors for good.

Joe, your work with local media works even if you post it first. We must remember there are many, not just older folks that are not computer friendly and can't access this 24/7 up to the minute releases of info. Great Job.

They need to hear on TV the same exposures you've opened up here on this site. If it takes until the next day, so-be-it, they wouldn't be hearing the truth without this blog exposing it and forcing the media to keep up which actually adds to your credibility.

Walmart will match any sale price advertized in this city. Take the sale flyer to cutomer service, done deal. Most times their everyday price is cheaper than many places sale prices.

I don't go to Sam's, being a single male I don't have much of a need for a case of toilet paper! When it comes to meats, I don't want a family pack, I'm a chef I don't want a frozen steak, I'll sacrifice and at least hit Super Giant up for a nicely marbled Black Angus London Broil when they have them on sale.

A Perdue chicken is a Perdue chicken anywhere you by it.

Anon 5:53 p.m. - Just for your information, I really don't believe Joe thinks he is Mr. Perfect and most of us know he is not, however, Joe is just letting all of us know what really goes on in Salisbury without all the twists, turns and spins that Barrie & Company like to put on things. I really don't come to his site to kiss his a$$, and I don't believe others do either, they just want to know what is going on in the community without coverups!

Anon 553 said: Joe thinks he is Mr. Perfect and alot of his clonies on here kiss his ass because it is his blog...

Well Mr. Anonymous if you knew Joe Albero personally as many of us do you would know that no one kisses his ass. It's not necessary to kiss his ass to be his friend. I for one have never kissed anyones ass in my life and I don't intend to start now. I disagree with him regularly and Joe will accept another opinion or point of view on a subject, he may not agree with it but he will accept it. So before you go spouting off at the lip about things you don't know why don't you take the time to meet Joe, get to know him. You might find he's not the asshole you and your buddies have deemed him to be.

When you want to call a bunch of people ass kissers at least have the common decency to sign your name.
