While 40+ Protesters lined the streets of Princess Anne just moments ago, Officials were listening. In a bold move yesterday, Princess Anne raised taxes 12% and Somerset County was set to vote today for a 7% increase.

However, this Protest clearly made a difference as their assessment rate was $ .92 cents per hundred, they were proposing to raise it to $ .99 cents per hundred.

By the time the vote was said and done, Somerset County actually LOWERED their rate from $ .92 cents down to $ .90 cents per hundred.

ARE YOU LISTENING ALL OTHER MUNICIPALITIES/COUNTIES????? This is what it takes to SPARK an economy! If you want to turn things around fast, LOWER your tax rates and give some relief.

Unfortunately for the Town of Princess Anne Residents, they'll fell the pain of a very serious increase and probably lose quite a few residents.

Wico. County Health Dept. has just received a drug dispensing van to distribute Methadone to "clients" inconvenienced by driving to PRMC.

Vehicle cost $156,000 and is not accessible to disabled, not conforming to ADA standards, and has outside "customer" window.

County expense for armed guard; $45,000, part time nurse $25,000?"

For this reason we are providing you additional tools to help identify and guide the patient to appropriate care.

Ladies & Gentlemen, I have personally visited the Health Department and have also taken a tour of this new vehicle. I have also spent time with Lori Brewster and Heather Brown to become more educated on this unit as well as the purpose and procedure of how it will be used.

In several discussions with others I have been told if drug users can get to their drug dealers, they can get to the Health Department too. This may be true but what everyone needs to understand is that this unit is for the entire Eastern Shore. That means going to Ocean City regularly and even into Virginia.

Time will tell if this system will be a success but it should be noted that this system is being used very successfully in Baltimore and the State felt it was important to get the same kind of system here in a more rural area/setting.

I am extremely concerned about Chief Webster's decision to shut down the Drug Enforcement Team but I'm not the Chief of Police. Heroine has become a serious problem here, one in which many of you, (including myself) do not see or understand.

A Very Sad Local Story

A young woman named Katie Smith, (mid 20's) worked at Atlantic Smith Cropper and Deely Insurance Office in Willards. She was 8 months pregnant and went into work yesterday morning where she started having seizures. They called 911 and went into full cardiac arrest.

Sadly, Mrs. Smith unfortunately passed away after being on life support. They did deliver the Baby in an emergency c section and are concerned with the child's condition.

I will update everyone just as soon as more details come in, Funeral Arrangements and so forth. The Atlantic Smith Cropper and Deely Insurance Office in Willards closed their doors yesterday at 11:00 AM because of this sad situation.

On a personal note, these are the times in which I hate breaking this kind of news. Believe me, the Family is in our thoughts and prayers, especially for the infant child.

WCDC Officer Removed From Gang Intell Unit

"Officer Oscar Arce has been removed from the WCDC gang unit. This was the brain child of William Hardin (review previous posts regarding Mr. Hardin). Officer Arce was supportive in Mr. Hardin's recent legal battles. Seems retalition from Col. Kimble and Director Devenyns is the order of the day.

Officer Arce found, wrote and recieved grant money that has been put to good use at WCDC. This money was used to provide new equipment and computers for WCDC as a whole under the guise of gang intervention.

Officer Arce has been transfered to the 3 to 11 shift. Officer Arce has cleaned out his office. Lookout Officer Turner for you are the only one left in the office.

I know these details are few because no reply to my many phone calls have been forthcoming. I realize that officers can be moved at will under the premise of best utilized for security and to prevent overtime. It does seem very suspious at the person moved and the timing.

I am sure other agencies will take note of this and be more than willing to take advantage of Officer Arce's training and talents.

Gay Family Kids 7 Times More Likely To Be Homosexual

But report shows researchers concealing information

A licensed psychologist with both clinical and forensic practice outreaches is warning that it appears children of homosexual couples are seven times more likely to develop "non-heterosexual preferences" than other children, but lawmakers establishing policy often don't know that because the researchers have concealed their discoveries.

"Research … although not definitive, suggests that children reared by openly homosexual parents are far more likely to engage in homosexual behavior than children raised by others," said the online report by Trayce L. Hansen.

Studies she reviewed suggest children raised by homosexual or bisexual parents "are approximately seven times more likely than the general population to develop a non-heterosexual sexual preference."

The "studies thus far find that between 8 percent and 21 percent of homosexually parented children ultimately identify as non-heterosexual," the psychologist wrote. "For comparison purposes, approximately 2 percent of the general population are non-heterosexual. Therefore, if these percentages continue to hold true, children of homosexuals have a 4 to 10 times greater likelihood of developing a non-heterosexual preference than other children."

However, those researchers who found such differences "nonetheless declared in their research summaries that no differences were found," the report said.

BREAKING NEWS!!!!!

Let me start with this. In Cambridge this past weekend, two Gang Members were arrested. BOTH Members were from the Crips Gang from LA. One of them was wanted on a Federal Warrant for drug charges. It's been reported that they were trafficking drugs here on the Eastern Shore.

This is not good Folks! When you have a major Gang sending members to the Eastern Shore, clearly we have a serious problem. Well, it gets worse.

Chief Webster of the Salisbury Police Department has shut down and dis banned his Drug Unit due to the lack on manpower. He has moved these Officers to the criminal division instead.

IMO, shutting down the Drug Unit, (or Task Force) especially during these times of such high drug arrests and criminal activity, we're in trouble! I have sent a message to the Mayor as he had to have known this decision was being made and quite frankly I'm very disturbed by such a decision and move.

Right now the SPD is down EIGHT Officers and only has TWO Officers in the Academy right now. Even at Full Staff the SPD is well under what they should be. Perhaps there's some logic to this move I'm not aware of but I can't see it.

Mr. Ireton, I sure hope you know what you're doing because this is a serious problem.

State Police Probe Homicide In Newport

Location of Incident: 300 block of Falco Drive in Newport, Delaware, New Castle County

Date and Time of Occurrence: Tuesday, June 09, 2009, at approximately 1:23 a.m.

Suspect(s): Unknown at this time

Resume: At about 1:23 a.m. this morning, Newport Police Officers and State Troopers were called to a storage unit along the 300 block of Falco Drive in Newport (Newport Business Park) for a report of an apparent homicide.

A person who was driving through, and familiar with, the business park saw a vehicle outside the aforementioned storage unit and thought it was suspicious because of the time of day. This individual drove up to and peered inside the unit to find two subjects lying on the ground. He then immediately called 911.

When officers arrived on the scene, they located one deceased male subject, and another male subject, both suffering from an apparent gunshot wounds. The wounded male was transported from the scene to Christiana Hospital where he was last listed in critical condition.

The deceased male is identified as Jose Luis Ramos, 24, of New Castle, Delaware.

The wounded subject is a male in his 20’s.

A motive for this crime has not been determined. The body of the deceased male has been turned over to the Medical Examiners Office for an autopsy.

The details outlined above are all that can be released at this time as not to speculate on or compromise this investigation.

Fish Were Biting During Annual Fishing Derby

(Salisbury, MD) Over 150 children and family members enjoyed a free day of fishing at Salisbury City Park on Saturday, June 6 for the Annual Fishing Derby. The fishing competition got underway at 9:00am, and several exciting catches were made including an 13-inch Bass. While enjoying free hot dogs, sodas and snacks, prizes and trophies were awarded for the biggest fish, most fish caught by a boy and girl and the most unusual catch.

In preparation for the Derby, the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) stocked the pond at Salisbury City Park. Approximately 500 Blue Gills joined the pond’s current inhabitants including Catfish, Large-Mouth Bass, Perch and Carp.

The Eastside Salvation Army and Wicomico Recreation, Parks & Tourism work together to bring the Annual Fishing Derby to the community. It is sponsored by the Fraternal Order of Eagles 4503, the Ladies Auxiliary and the Maryland Department of Natural Resources.

Burglaries And News Investigations

Hi, Joe.

I wrote in a comment the other night about the suspicious people knocking on the doors of rural homes. My best friend's home (near Mardela) was burglarized last Friday sometime during the day. The week before she came home to a wide open front door but nothing was missing. After searching her home for an intruder, the police didn't file a report and told her that it was probably the wind that blew open her door. This week (Friday again she came home and her home had been burglarized--all the electronics, video game systems, and her jewelry were gone. She found out later from the state trooper who took her report that a house a mile or two away off of Athol Road had been burglarized on Friday as well. That lady had also reported that someone had been in her home in the previous week! So, 2 homes robbed on Friday.

I just read a press release saying that another home in Mardela was burglarized on Saturday. Just like my friend's home, they pried open a window and took all the electronics. If you add that to another press release that spoke about a home on Log Cabin Road being burglarized (1 of 3 reported within 2 hours last Wednesday), you might think they could all be related. 4 rural homes within miles of each other in less than a week--and that is just the ones that I know about!! Shouldn't someone alert the people in that area???

Anyway, I called WBOC and spoke to someone in the news room. I told her the same thing as what is in this email. She pretty much told me that they only read the press releases that are sent to them on the air. So much for investigative reporting. She told me that if I wanted to write something up and sent it to them, perhaps they would look into it. REALLY??? Isn't that their jobs? Unbelievable. Anyway, I still haven't decided if I even want to sent them the details. And the Daily Times, I'm sure they do the same thing because it is always the same stories on both websites at least. (And if they could get a story, the writing and grammar would be so bad most people wouldn't take it seriously to begin with.)

So, this is my vent. I know you reach a lot of people. I hope you will let them know that our area could be the target of a ring of professional thieves. (The policeman who took my friend's report seemed to think so.) No one seems to want to connect the dots. Wouldn't making people aware of this make them more observant? Then and maybe these guys could be caught.

Charges Stack Up on Wilmington Man in Afternoon Pursuit

Location of Incident: City of Wilmington and various locations in North Wilmington, New Castle County

Date and Time of Occurrence: Monday, June 08, 2009, at approximately 12:00 p.m.

Suspect(s): Sean Vernon, 24, of Beechwood Drive in Wilmington, Delaware

Resume: Earlier today, a Sergeant with the City of Wilmington Police Department was on Lovering Avenue and North Van Buren Street when a maroon Toyota Camry almost struck his vehicle. Initially the vehicle stopped, and upon contact with the operator, the Sergeant thought this subject was having a medical issue. The officer then observed the driver holding a plastic baggie of suspected drugs. The Sergeant told this subject to put the car in park, and instead, the operator accelerated, dragging the Wilmington PD Sergeant for several feet.

The officer was able to break free and responded back to his patrol car. A pursuit ensued and the officer followed the Toyota to Augustine Cut Off. Along the way, the Toyota sideswiped a parked car along North Broom Street. Because of the extreme erratic driving by the operator of the Camry, the Sergeant called off the pursuit.

Moments later, a DEA Agent observed the Toyota driving the wrong way on the ramp from I-95 northbound to Route 202. The DEA agent was forced off of the roadway, and after getting turned around on the Toyota, he called for assistance in getting the vehicle stopped. The Toyota made several moving violations and came close to striking a pedestrian on Bellevue Parkway.

Just as State Troopers were getting behind the Toyota, the suspect vehicle turned onto Calhoun Road. The Toyota then struck a utility pole and became disabled. Troopers then took the operator into custody and positively identified him as Sean M. Vernon. He was in possession of cocaine.

Mr. Vernon was transported initially to DSP Troop 1 and then to Wilmington Police Headquarters for processing. The charges are as follows:

Milton Man Found in Pool- Death Investigation

Location of Incident: 9 Wades Court , Canal Corkran, Rehoboth Beach, Sussex County

Date and Time of Occurrence: Monday June 8, 2009

Victim : Justin J. Lesko, 19, of Gravel Hill Road, Milton, DE

Resume:

Troopers were summoned to 9 Wades Court just outside the town of Rehoboth Beach this morning just before 11 am for the report of an unresponsive male in a pool.

When troopers arrived they found Lesko. He was immediately removed and attempts to revive him proved futile. Lesko was pronounced dead at the seen.

Lesko was employed by First Choice Management, Inc and was there to clean the pool. A neighbor saw him on Sunday, June 7, and became curious when Lesko’s company vehicle was still at the home this morning. The neighbor went to check on him and found Lesko in the pool.

There were no signs of trauma observed and the Medical Examiner’s Office is conducting an autopsy to determine the exact cause and manner of death.

Robber Commits Street Level Robbery Donning Nylon Mask

Location of Incident: 3700 Block Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, Delaware, New Castle County

Date and Time of Occurrence: Saturday, June 6, 2009, at approximately 9:30 p.m.

Suspect(s): Black male, 5’08”, 180 – 200 pounds, average build, all dark clothing

Resume: Troopers from Troop 1 Penny Hill are investigating a street level robbery that occurred late Saturday night.

This investigation revealed two 18-year-old male victims were walking along the 3700 block of Philadelphia Pike, adjacent to the catwalk over I-495, when they were approached by a male suspect donning a nylon mask.

The hooligan pointed a handgun at the victims and ordered them to the ground. The suspect then rifled through their pockets and stole an undisclosed amount of cash.

The robber fled the scene on foot toward the Church of the Ascension in Claymont.

Narrative: On 7 June 2009 at 1:17 AM, a deputy from the WCSO stopped a vehicle operated by Stanley Cruz of Roxbury MA, for speeding. Upon making contact with Cruz and his passengers, the deputy discovered the vehicle had been rented and the renter was not in the vehicle. The deputy also observed that Cruz appeared nervous while speaking with the deputy. A WCSO drug K9 team arrived and scanned the vehicle for the presence of the odor of illegal drugs, during which the K9 alerted positively to that odor. Based on the alert, the deputy searched the vehicle and discovered Cruz to be in possession of what the deputy recognized as marijuana. During a search of a passenger, Trevor Horsey, the deputy located cocaine hidden in Horsey’s shoe.

The deputy transported both Cruz and Horsey to the Wicomico County Central Booking Unit where they were processed and taken in front of the District Court Commissioner. After an initial appearance, both Cruz and Horsey were detained by the Commissioner in the Detention Center in lieu of bonds of $5,000.00 and $12,000.00, respectively.

Narrative: On 7 June 2009 at 7:43 AM, a deputy from the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office responded to a corn field in the 25300 block of Rewastico Road for the report of an individual who was driving through the corn field, causing extensive damage to the corn that had been planted. Upon arrival, the deputy located Justin Rebino, who was attempting to get his vehicle un-stuck from the field. Investigation revealed that Rebino had intentionally entered the field and began cutting "donuts" in the field. This was evident by the tracks left by Rebino’s vehicle. Examination of the tracks also revealed that it appeared Rebino was accelerating while turning the wheels of the vehicle. The property owner estimated the value of the damage to be in the neighborhood of $1,000.00.

The deputy placed Rebino under arrest and transported him to the Central Booking Unit where he was processed and taken in front of the District Court Commissioner. After an initial appearance, Rebino was released by the Commissioner on Personal Recognizance.

Narrative: On 7 June 2009 at 7:16 AM, a deputy from the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office began an investigation into the theft of a motor vehicle that occurred in the 2500 block of Murphy Street. The victim informed the deputy that upon waking up on 7 June, her vehicle was missing from her driveway. After an investigation by the deputy, it was discovered that two juveniles, who had been in the victim’s residence the previous evening, had removed the key to the victim’s vehicle. Upon the victim going to bed for the evening, the juveniles returned and drove away in the vehicle.

The vehicle was recovered later in the day on 7 June and was returned to the victim. During the investigation, the deputy located the two individuals responsible for the theft and placed both under arrest. Upon arriving at the Sheriff’s Office, the deputy contacted the Department of Juvenile Services who advised to release both juveniles to their respective parents. The deputy charged both juveniles on a juvenile referral.

Delaware Does More For Teen Drivers

Teen Driving Website, Parent Orientation Training and Teen Driver Alert Programs Featured

Dover -- Today, in Dover, Lt. Governor Matt Denn, joined by representatives of the Teen Driving Task Force - a consortium of agencies dedicated to educating youth on driving safety - Senator Brian Bushweller, students and advocates announced the roll out of new programs aimed at improving teen driving in Delaware.

Lt. Governor Matt Denn stated, "It is such an important thing to do all we can to educate and protect young drivers in Delaware. I am especially proud of how these state agencies have built a bridge of cooperation to make sure that the Teen Driver Alert program is successful."

"In 2008, teen drivers in Delaware made up 5% of all licensed drivers, but were involved in 10% of all vehicle crashes," explained Jennifer Cohan, Director of the Division of Motor Vehicles. "Despite being lower than when the Graduated Drivers License program began in 1998, those percentages can still be improved."

The Delaware Does More for Teen Drivers Program features a number of components. A new website designed for the teen driver at www.teendriving.dmv.de.gov, is now active. The site is full of information, resources, and tips to help teens stay safe while enjoying their newfound freedom in the driver's seat. A specialized training class for the parents of teen drivers - the Graduated Driver License Parent Orientation Class - is available as an hour long tool to increase parental involvement. The training course was created by the Office of Highway Safety and is free to the public.

Another positive initiative is the Teen Driver Alert Program which is a reflective magnet/sticker program aimed at GDL holders and their parents/sponsors. All Division of Motor Vehicle locations will be handing out, free of charge, a "Novice Driver" magnet or removable sticker to graduated driver license applicants and/or their parents/sponsors. This magnet/sticker can be used when teen drivers are learning to drive at home with their parents/sponsors.

The Teen Driving Task Force is a joint effort of the Division of Motor Vehicles, the Department of Education, the Office of Highway Safety, Delaware State Police, AAA Mid-Atlantic, and SmartDrive. Established in the fall of 2008, the Task Force was organized to develop a collective partnership for teen driver safety initiatives. The founding premise was to educate teen drivers and their parents/sponsors regarding the importance of safe driving skills, training, and the consequences if ignored.

42 YEARS AGO – ISRAELI ATTACK ON USS LIBERTY

The USS Liberty incident was an attack on a U.S. Navy signals intelligence ship, USS Liberty, in international waters about 12.5 nautical miles (23 km) from the coast of the Sinai Peninsula, north of the Egyptian town of El Arish, by Israeli fighter planes and torpedo boats on June 8, 1967.

It occurred during the Six-Day War, a conflict between Israel and the Arab states of Egypt, Jordan, Syria and Iraq. The Israeli attack killed 34 U.S. servicemen and wounded at least 173. The attack was the second-deadliest against a U.S. warship since the end of World War II, surpassed only by the Iraqi Exocet missile attack on the USS Stark on May 17, 1987, and marked the single greatest loss of life by the U.S. intelligence community.

The Israeli and American governments conducted multiple inquiries into the incident, and issued reports concluding that the attack was the result of a mistake, caused by confusion among the Israeli attackers about the precise identity of the USS Liberty and the fact that the United States Ambassador to the United Nations had publicly announced to the world at the U.N. that the United States had no ships within 350 miles of Israel and the battle.

Israel's official position is that the attack was not the result of an intentional targeting of an American ship. Israeli officials say they were assured by the United States that no U.S. ships were in the area, and that its air and naval forces mistakenly identified Liberty as the Egyptian vessel El Quseir. Supporters of this position say Israel had no motive for a surprise attack on an important ally. They also note that the tense atmosphere of the Six-Day War created the possibility of such mistakes, and point out that the U.S. government, concerned about such dangers, ordered the Liberty further away from shore the night before the attack (bureaucratic and communications problems kept the order from arriving in time). Finally, they note that the United States has several times mistakenly attacked its own and allied forces in so-called friendly fire incidents

Others believe that the attack was deliberate and premeditated. They note that the Liberty was more than twice as large as the El Quseir, and was clearly designated with Latin rather than Arabic letters and numbers, rejecting claims that Egyptians could have intentionally mimicked a US ship as deception in war. Proponents include some of the surviving Liberty crewmen, and some former U.S. government officials, including then-CIA director Richard Helms and then-Secretary of State Dean Rusk as well as Admiral Thomas Hinman Moorer, former Chief of Naval Operations and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Israel concedes that the Israeli Air Force deliberately attacked what Israel believed to be an Egyptian ship.

According to the Jewish Virtual Library, on December 17, 1987, the issue was officially closed by the two governments through an exchange of diplomatic notes. Israel also eventually paid nearly $13 million in humanitarian reparations to the United States and in compensation to the families of the victims.

According to the book "The Puzzle Palace" (a history of the NSA written by James Bamford), the issue was closed by President Jimmy Carter accepting an Israeli government offer of $6 million in damages for destruction of the vessel; this book also indicates that the surviving family members of crewman affected by the incident had to work out a civil settlement of approximately $3.6 million with lawyers hired by the Israeli government.

UPDATE: Business Owner Finds Man Deceased in Office

The body of the man found deceased in the business of Aqua Leisure Plus, located at 35465 Wolfe Neck Road, Rehoboth Beach, has been identified as Joseph Francis Derosa, 20, of the 35000 block of Parsonage Road, Rehoboth Beach.

The cause and the manner of death are still under investigation.

BREAKING NEWS STORY: Princess Anne Under FIRE

We told you last week that we'd be delivering a breaking news story and here it is.

While I have known for quite some time there was more than meets the eye when it came to Police Chief Pecoraro and Town Manager Jay Parker suddenly disappearing from Princess Anne's Employment, months of digging have finally turned up enough information for me to expose the truth.

It is true that Chief Pecoraro did resign under a medical condition, I believe this is one of those cases where he was fortunate enough to have such documents filed before other charges against him could be brought forth. Removing him under any condition was the right thing to do.

Town Manager Jay Parker has been playing a sort of cat and mouse game with Commissioners for years. The only way you were ever going to reach this guy was by cell phone. Jay, (a like able guy) was playing the Town of Princess Anne like a fine tuned fiddle. Never in the Office, always an excuse as to why he wasn't around and always about 30 minutes away from being able to meet with anyone.

The reason, he was out doing work elsewhere for other organizations, one in which he is now employed. Word has it he had been told flat out NOT to work for anyone else but it's clear he was doing it anyway.

There came a time in which the Town of Princess Anne filed for a Grant for a project called, "Hampden Avenue Sidewalk Safe Route To School Project." This was a Federal Grant in which $90,000.00 was committed by the State to construct certain sidewalks, (similar to the recent Salisbury sidewalk project).

Jay Parker, as Town Manager was to oversee the project, get sealed bids by different contractors and submit them to the Town Commissioners. Some how, Chief Pecararro caught wind of the project and confronted Jay Parker and told him he could save the Town a lot of money by doing the project himself. It has been reported that he brought in an ex prisoner, created an alleged LLC and used this former prisoner as they key person to do the project.

There were NO SEALED BIDS presented to anyone and Parker and Pecoraro simply started the project before the funds were ever released by the State. It has also been reported that at least one Officer, (Pecoraro) was being paid overtime as part of the construction crew and money was being spent well above Jay Parkers authority and he never once went to the Commissioners for permission to do so.

After numerous conversations with different sources I had been told that the Princess Anne Commissioners had noticed some checks coming in to be signed and processed well above the normal paycheck to a certain Officer, (Pecoraro) and it was challenged. This is when they allegedly came to learn what was going on.

It gets better. A former Town Commissioner named Steve Goldston was also on the payroll for this project, yet the rest of the Commission was clueless to what was going on. Steve is no longer a Commissioner.

The main complication was that the Grant itself had several requirements that by law had to be followed and while some checks had been processed before they were red flagged, the Town had to contact the State Police and create an immediate investigation or anyone and everyone involved could be up on charges.

An investigation was started and what's the one way to get out of any involvement with the Feds, don't take the grant money for that project. Since no funds had actually been drawn from this Grant, the Town would then have to front the $70,000.00 to $90,000.00 worth of construction and this put the Town of Princess Anne in the RED for somewhere around $70,000.00 and Parker was terminated immediately.

Fortunately for Pecoraro, he had already stepped down on medical leave but let me assure you of one thing Folks. IF they had dug into these funds and or didn't repay the Feds and all of this stayed under cover, these two gentlemen and perhaps several others would be in Jail right now.

Not only did Jay Parker know he was breaking the law, I'm told he had been warned numerous times in advance to manage these Department Heads better or he'd be terminated. Princess Anne still has the Grant from the State and will be using it elsewhere on another project, one in which you can firmly trust will be professionally and honestly handled but I'm telling you, these individuals are damn lucky things turned out the way they did.

IMHO, I personally believe the taxpayers have been absolutely screwed. The taxpayers of Princess Anne have now put out $70,000.00 to $90,000.00 for sidewalks that actually had to be reworked and rebuilt because of the crappy construction in the first place.

This is exactly how and where taxpayers can and do get screwed by crooked people and 95% of the time, (before Salisbury News came along) get swept under the rug. Someone knew just how to hide such a thing and keep everyone from going to jail and simply get a slap on the wrist.

Yes, this was investigated by the State Police and the Feds but guess what, just pay the money back or always use a Town Account first to pay for things before anyone gets caught and file for the payment when the work is complete or almost complete. If someone gets caught, just switch it to another project and make the taxpayers pay for it instead, just as Princess Anne Taxpayers are being forced to do.

Town Manager Jay Parker had been working with the Shore Heritage Foundation while employed with the Town of Princess Anne as well as the Mcready Hospital. Jay is now employed full time with the Shore Heritage Foundation who immediately hired him after he was dismissed from employment with Princess Anne.

Keep in mind Folks, Pecoraro was under Town Manager Jay Parker but I'm told the Police Chief had a way of controlling individuals and convincing them he had everything under control. This is one reason, (sadly) why every Municipality should have their own internal auditor and it frankly makes me even more curious today why Wicomico County recently terminated their Internal Auditor.

Man, what I wouldn't do to investigate the Books for the City of Salisbury over the past, oh, lets say, 12 years or so! Mind you, this story is about Princess Anne and I have brought it forward so as each and every one of you can see that your local government can be very crooked and get away with it. They can sit on the fence until the very last moment and when the coast is clear, file those documents for the Grant money and move onto the next. It's no wonder why certain developers win most of the bids and so forth.

Narrative: On the morning of Saturday, June 6th, 2009, a Fruitland police officer was following up an investigation of a wanted person and a stolen vehicle when he observed both in the public parking lot of the Giant food store on S. Salisbury, Blvd. He called for assistance from the Salisbury police department due to jurisdictional concerns, and upon their arrival, made contact with the accused who was the lone occupant of the stolen vehicle. During the contact with the accused, several pieces of suspected CDS were observed in the vehicle as well as a glass tube with copper mesh pushed into one end of the tube which had burnt residue. The accused was arrested on a warrant for the illegal possession of the vehicle and subsequent charges for the possession of the controlled dangerous substance.

American Legion Post 64 Riders Host Fundraiser For Kara Adams

The American Legion Riders held a fundraiser for Kara Adams of Delmar, MD. this past weekend and raised more than $4,300.00 to help support and assist the Adams Family during these difficult times.

Kara is just 10 years old and is fighting her battle with cancer with a toughness none of us should ever have to face. Salisbury News wants to thank ALL of the fine men and women who put this event together and raised so much money for a great cause.

Delmar Held Their Fun In The Park This Past Weekend

Fortunately on Saturday the rain finally disappeared and Delmar was able to hold their annual get together. Unfortunately there wasn't enough time for all the water to drain off the property but everyone was able to get around without getting too wet and the kids seemed to love it. Many were splashing in the water and having a good time.

Both Delmar Maryland and Delaware are moving in the right direction cleaning up the streets and reinvesting back into their community. We're seeing road improvements as well as sidewalk and curb restorations. As long as they keep plugging away at the infrastructure, Delmar will continue to be one of the best investments and communities to invest into over the next 20 years.

Of course the Delaware side has the advantage of much lower taxes than anywhere else in Wicomico County Maryland. Princess Anne and Delmar are the Towns to watch in the near future.

Turf Farms, A Thing Of The Past?

I'm not sure if many of you have realized this or not but the traditional Turf Farms we've grown to get used to here on the Eastern Shore have almost disappeared. While some have cut way back on Turf and are now growing soy beans and even corn, my neighbor is now starting to grow potatoes, of all things.

It becomes painfully obvious that new construction has pretty much come to almost a complete stop and the former builders demands on Turn Grass has caused most Farmers to make immediate changes to crops that will bring them some cash.

So the next time you're riding around, Rt. 54, Rt. 13 and so forth, take a look and you'll clearly see what used to be grass is now some other kind of crop. We'll know when the economy is coming back just as soon as we see these Turf Farmers growing grass again. Until then, it's nowhere near over Folks. The economy is in the toilet and thank God these Farmers have other choices for their land to keep them afloat.

The Last Of The Kennedy Dynasty

As soon as his cancer was detected, I noticed the immediate attempt at the “canonization” of old Teddy Kennedy by the mainstream media. They are saying what a "great American" he is. I say, let's get a couple things clear & not twist the facts to change the real history.

1. He was caught cheating at Harvard when he attended it. He was expelled twice, once for cheating on a test, and once for paying a classmate to cheat for him.

2. While expelled, Kennedy enlisted in the Army, but mistakenly signed up for four years instead of two. Oops! The man can't count to four! His father, Joseph P. Kennedy, former U.S. Ambassador to England (a step up from bootlegging liquor into the US from Canada during prohibition), pulled the necessary strings to have his enlistment shortened to two years, and to ensure that he served in Europe, not Korea , where a war was raging. No preferential treatment for him! (like he charged that President Bush received).

3. Kennedy was assigned to Paris, never advanced beyond the rank of Private, and returned to Harvard upon being discharged. Imagine a person of his "education" NEVER advancing past the rank of Private!

4. While attending law school at the University of Virginia, he was cited for reckless driving four times, including once when he was clocked driving 90 miles per hour in a residential neighborhood with his headlights off after dark. Yet his Virginia driver's license was never revoked. Coincidentally, he passed the bar exam in 1959. Amazing!

5. In 1964, he was seriously injured in a plane crash, and hospitalized for several months. Test results done by the hospital at the time he was admitted had shown he was legally intoxicated. The results of those tests remained a "state secret" until in the 1980's when the report was unsealed. Didn't hear about that from the unbiased media, did we?

6. On July 19, 1969, Kennedy attended a party on Chappaquiddick Island in Massachusetts . At about 11:00 PM, he borrowed his chauffeur's keys to his Oldsmobile limousine, and offered to give a ride home to Mary Jo Kopechne, a campaign worker. Leaving the island via an unlit bridge with no guard rail, Kennedy steered the car off the bridge, flipped, and into Poucha Pond.

7. He swam to shore and walked back to the party, passing several houses and a fire station. Two friends then returned with him to the scene of the accident. According to their later testimony, they told him what he already knew - that he was required by law to immediately report the accident to the authorities. Instead Kennedy made his way to his hotel, called his lawyer, and went to sleep. Kennedy called the police the next morning and by then the wreck had already been discovered. Before dying, Kopechne had scratched at the upholstered floor above her head in the upside-down car.
The Kennedy family began "calling in favors", ensuring that any inquiry would be contained. Her corpse was whisked out-of-state to her family, before an autopsy could be conducted. Further details are uncertain, but after the accident Kennedy says he repeatedly dove under the water trying to rescue Kopechne and he didn't call police because he
was in a state of shock. It is widely assumed Kennedy was drunk, and he held off calling police in hopes that his family could fix the problem overnight. Since the accident, Kennedy's "political enemies" have referred to him as the distinguished Senator from Chappaquiddick. He pled guilty to leaving the scene of an accident, and was given a SUSPENDED SENTENCE OF TWO MONTHS. Kopechne's family received a small payout from the Kennedy's insurance policy, and never sued. 8. Kennedy has held his Senate seat for more than forty years, but considering his longevity, his accomplishments seem scant. He authored or argued for legislation that ensured a variety of civil rights, increased the minimum wage in 1981, made access to health care easier for the indigent, and funded Meals on Wheels for fixed-income seniors and is widely held as the "standard-bearer for liberalism". In his very first Senate roll, he was the floor manager for the bill that turned U.S. immigration policy upside down and opened the floodgate for immigrants from third world countries.

9. Since that time, he has been the prime instigator and author of every expansion of an increase in immigration, up to and including the latest attempt to grant amnesty to illegal aliens. Not to mention the pious grilling he gave the last two Supreme Court nominees, as if he was the standard bearer for the nation in matters of “what’s right”. What a pompous ass!

10. He is known around Washington as a public drunk, loud, boisterous and very disrespectful to ladies. JERK is a better description than "great American". “A blonde in every pond” is his motto.

Let's not allow the spin doctors make this jerk a hero -- how quickly the American public forgets what his real legacy is. Let’s keep this going for truth, justice and the American way!

West Road Accident

This vehicle was traveling in excess of 70 MPH on West Road when he lost an argument with a tree.

One victim was flown to Shock Trauma and the other stayed locally but both were in critical condition and I'm told they'll survive. Share this Post with your kids Folks. Let them see what can happen to them when they're in a SUV trying to drive like it's a sports car.

The New Black & Whites Are In

One is already in the decal shop, (Gardner Screen Printing) almost ready and complete. In the mean time the new fleet of Dodge Cruisers have arrived, all at the expense of the Drug Dealers. That's right, Wicomico County Taxpayers didn't pay a penny for these special units. There seems to be only ONE Department Head who is NOT a politician who is acting fiscally responsible and that's Sheriff Lewis and the Wicomico County Sheriff's Office.

Lessons To Live By

To celebrate growing older, Regina Brett, a columnist with the Cleveland Plain
Dealer newspaper, once wrote the 45 lessons life taught her. It became her single most-requested column she ever wrote, and re-ran the column with five more lessons for her 50th birthday.

1. Life isn't fair, but it's still good.

2. When in doubt, just take the next small step.

3. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.

4. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.

5. Pay off your credit cards every month.

6. You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.

7. Cry with someone. It's more healing than crying alone.

8. It's OK to get angry with God. He can take it.

9. Save for retirement starting with your first paycheck.

10. When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile.

11. Make peace with your past so it won't screw up the present.

12. It's OK to let your children see you cry.

13. Don't compare your life to others'. You have no idea what their journey is all about.

14. If a relationship has to be a secret, you shouldn't be in it.

15. Everything can change in the blink of an eye. But don't worry; God never blinks.

16. Life is too short for long pity parties. Get busy living, or get busy dying.

17. You can get through anything if you stay put in today.

18. A writer writes. If you want to be a writer, write.

19. It's never too late to have a happy childhood. But the second one is up to you and no one else.

20. When it comes to going after what you love in life, don't take no for an answer.

21. Burn the candles, use the nice sheets, wear the fancy lingerie. Don't save it for a special occasion. Today is special.

22. Overprepare, then go with the flow.

23. Be eccentric now. Don't wait for old age to wear purple.

24. The most important sex organ is the brain.

25. No one is in charge of your happiness except you.

26. Frame every so-called disaster with these words: "In five years, will this matter?"

27. Always choose life.

28. Forgive everyone everything.

29. What other people think of you is none of your business.

30. Time heals almost everything. Give time time.

31. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.

32. Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends will. Stay in touch.

33. Believe in miracles.

34. God loves you because of who God is, not because of anything you did or didn't do.

35. Whatever doesn't kill you really does make you stronger.

36. Growing old beats the alternative: dying young.

37. Your children get only one childhood. Make it memorable.

38. Read the Psalms. They cover every human emotion.

39. Get outside every day. Miracles are waiting everywhere.

40. If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else's, we'd grab ours back.

41. Don't audit life. Show up and make the most of it now.

42. Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful or joyful.

43. All that truly matters in the end is that you loved.

44. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.

45. The best is yet to come.

46. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.

47. Take a deep breath. It calms the mind.

48. If you don't ask, you don't get.

49. Yield.

50. Life isn't tied with a bow, but it's still a gift.
