The Last Of The Kennedy Dynasty

As soon as his cancer was detected, I noticed the immediate attempt at the “canonization” of old Teddy Kennedy by the mainstream media. They are saying what a "great American" he is. I say, let's get a couple things clear & not twist the facts to change the real history.

1. He was caught cheating at Harvard when he attended it. He was expelled twice, once for cheating on a test, and once for paying a classmate to cheat for him.

2. While expelled, Kennedy enlisted in the Army, but mistakenly signed up for four years instead of two. Oops! The man can't count to four! His father, Joseph P. Kennedy, former U.S. Ambassador to England (a step up from bootlegging liquor into the US from Canada during prohibition), pulled the necessary strings to have his enlistment shortened to two years, and to ensure that he served in Europe, not Korea , where a war was raging. No preferential treatment for him! (like he charged that President Bush received).

3. Kennedy was assigned to Paris, never advanced beyond the rank of Private, and returned to Harvard upon being discharged. Imagine a person of his "education" NEVER advancing past the rank of Private!

4. While attending law school at the University of Virginia, he was cited for reckless driving four times, including once when he was clocked driving 90 miles per hour in a residential neighborhood with his headlights off after dark. Yet his Virginia driver's license was never revoked. Coincidentally, he passed the bar exam in 1959. Amazing!

5. In 1964, he was seriously injured in a plane crash, and hospitalized for several months. Test results done by the hospital at the time he was admitted had shown he was legally intoxicated. The results of those tests remained a "state secret" until in the 1980's when the report was unsealed. Didn't hear about that from the unbiased media, did we?

6. On July 19, 1969, Kennedy attended a party on Chappaquiddick Island in Massachusetts . At about 11:00 PM, he borrowed his chauffeur's keys to his Oldsmobile limousine, and offered to give a ride home to Mary Jo Kopechne, a campaign worker. Leaving the island via an unlit bridge with no guard rail, Kennedy steered the car off the bridge, flipped, and into Poucha Pond.

7. He swam to shore and walked back to the party, passing several houses and a fire station. Two friends then returned with him to the scene of the accident. According to their later testimony, they told him what he already knew - that he was required by law to immediately report the accident to the authorities. Instead Kennedy made his way to his hotel, called his lawyer, and went to sleep. Kennedy called the police the next morning and by then the wreck had already been discovered. Before dying, Kopechne had scratched at the upholstered floor above her head in the upside-down car.
The Kennedy family began "calling in favors", ensuring that any inquiry would be contained. Her corpse was whisked out-of-state to her family, before an autopsy could be conducted. Further details are uncertain, but after the accident Kennedy says he repeatedly dove under the water trying to rescue Kopechne and he didn't call police because he
was in a state of shock. It is widely assumed Kennedy was drunk, and he held off calling police in hopes that his family could fix the problem overnight. Since the accident, Kennedy's "political enemies" have referred to him as the distinguished Senator from Chappaquiddick. He pled guilty to leaving the scene of an accident, and was given a SUSPENDED SENTENCE OF TWO MONTHS. Kopechne's family received a small payout from the Kennedy's insurance policy, and never sued. There was later an effort to have her body exhumed and autopsied, but her family successfully fought against this in court, and Kennedy's family paid their attorney's bills... a "token of friendship"?

8. Kennedy has held his Senate seat for more than forty years, but considering his longevity, his accomplishments seem scant. He authored or argued for legislation that ensured a variety of civil rights, increased the minimum wage in 1981, made access to health care easier for the indigent, and funded Meals on Wheels for fixed-income seniors and is widely held as the "standard-bearer for liberalism". In his very first Senate roll, he was the floor manager for the bill that turned U.S. immigration policy upside down and opened the floodgate for immigrants from third world countries.

9. Since that time, he has been the prime instigator and author of every expansion of an increase in immigration, up to and including the latest attempt to grant amnesty to illegal aliens. Not to mention the pious grilling he gave the last two Supreme Court nominees, as if he was the standard bearer for the nation in matters of “what’s right”. What a pompous ass!

10. He is known around Washington as a public drunk, loud, boisterous and very disrespectful to ladies. JERK is a better description than "great American". “A blonde in every pond” is his motto.

Let's not allow the spin doctors make this jerk a hero -- how quickly the American public forgets what his real legacy is. Let’s keep this going for truth, justice and the American way!

Not the best of the Kennedys, thats for sure. Unfortunately, not the worst either. Although your bitter precis of his political career is mostly based in fact, it ends in rhetoric, which of course makes it less effective.

Good they were a joke.

Dubya's rap sheet is much longer...

Thank you, Joe. Perfect commentary for the perfect jerk. I would say he is by far the worst of a terrible family.

No matter what crap you throw at him he will still always be the distinguished Senator from Massachusetts. He has done pleanty of good with his life.

Anonymous said...

9:13 it would help validate your ignorant statement if you posted facts in the same manner that Joe did in order to substantiate your innuendo.

9:38

Yeah, never let the facts get in the way of your hero worship.

Teddy has done some great things. However he was from "The Privilaged" and if he were anyone else he be in jail. If he was black and killed a white woman, he'd be dead.

Camalot is dead.

a perfect ending for teddy would be to have the same thing done to him that he did to mary jo. sjd

As long as anyone remembers the word Chappaquiddick, Ted Kennedy should never be considered as one of the great men of our time. He should have gone to jail for his actions(or lack of action) that night.

BRAVO BRAVO WELL SAID!!!!!! You forgot that he co-authored the education bill and touted "bi partisanship" with then, the new president bush- clasping hands on the capitol steps in unity. what b.s. As it became apparent the education bill was another gov't fiasco, he quickly blamed its failure on Bush. Bipartisanship, my a- -. Well said on this deserved loser of a Senator. Hopefully MASS will wake up and elect somebody with character and a moral compass. And while were at it, lets put a wind farm on his beloved cape cod, oh- i forgot, the hypocrits of the left want that stuff in your backyard, not theirs

9:38 you are going to have to list your "facts" so I can know what you are even talking about. The original statement contains no facts so how is someone supposed to read your mind and know what you are referring to?

Anonymous said...

The fact that this man refuses to leave office now speaks volumes. He is clearly ill. Why doesn't he "do the right thing" and allow someone else to serve the Country?

Anonymous said...

Joe Kennedy II wants his uncle's senate seat and he is even more of lout.

9:39 If you need me to list facts of Bush's blunders YOU are the ignorant one. This medium cant support the text it would take nor do I have the time to do so. Your lack of political knowldege and unnecessary rudeness are actually quite frightening. Stop being foolish and learn for yourself rather than relying on the word of others.

I thinks it's funny if you question or even point out the facts of a liberal some ignorant fool lays out some stupid G.W.B. statement that they can't back up or defend.

A true American Hero. God Bless Senator Edward Kennedy.

Yeah, some hero.He has spent his entire life trying to fill his older brothers shoes and failed miserably. Now that he is dying and knows he is going to meet his Maker soon,he is starting to get worried about where exactly he is headed. And while he was driving drunk in Chappaquiddick with another woman he had a pregnant wife at home. Some character, some hero.

What is there to back up? Do you not have access to any news outlets. Bush got a DUI, he sniffed cocaine, ran a couple of oil companies into the ground, graduated from Harvad with straight C's most of which he probably didnt earn, started an unnecessary war and the blood of thousands of Americans is on his hands. The guy wasnt that smart, maybe thats why you can relate... Why do you speak of Ted Kennedy when an even greater "pompous ass" was leader of this country.

Anonymous said...

Perhaps I'm just "misunderestimating" him

1:06 boy you're an idiot. You are answering our questions and don't even realize it. The ORIGINAL post was about Ted Kennedy and the perceived misrepresentative image portrayed by the press. All these things you are saying about Bush are NOT, I repeat, are NOT being disuputed. We are open enough to admit Bush's shortcomings and faults. That is the difference between. us and you, whereby you don't even realize that Kennedy's so called legacy is being manipulated by the pr people and press. You are comparing apples to oranges. Nice try for the deflection, though

Your name calling doesn't bother me and you're honestly coming off a bit foolishly. Perhaps one day you'll learn to carry on a civilized conversation/debate. Until you've resolved your anger issues you might as well talk to the wall because no one is going to take you seriously.

1:06 Your boy Obama also smoked crack, sniffed cocaine and smoked weed. The "what about Bush" arguement you liberals are relying on is wearing paper thin, especially since Obama is continuing most of the Bush policies. There is no more CORRUPT political machine than the Chicago/Detroit/D.C. and of Democrat thugs now in office.

Anonymous said...

You're intitled to your opinion, as WRONG and RIDICULOUS as it may be. But whats with the animosity? All that hate you have in your heart is gonna kill you one day...

Anonymous said...

By the way Obama did admit to using drugs. He never smoked crack though. Not sure where you got that information but it is 100% wrong. Assuming you just made it up. Drugs are bad but atleast he admitted to casual use and didnt lie about it like so many others. Honesty is the best policy.

Senator Ted Kennedy, hero of the working man, champion of the under priviledged. Look at his record, do your homework. I'll bet there is not one person on this blog that has not had the benefit of legislation Kennedy authored. His lasting legacy will be one of distingushed service to our nation.

Oh yea and let those without sin cast the first stone.

Im not a religious man but, Amen... Well said.

Another worthless Democrat who cares

3:00, you hit the nail on the head. Over the years I've heard similar bashing of JFK due to his womanizing. LMAO! I'd take JFK over Bush OR Obama any day of the week.

It's similar with TK. Those who recognize his accomplishments will continue to do so. Those who wish only to bash him will also continue to do so. The beat goes on.

3:00, you are so right that there probably isn't anyone on here who hasn't benefited in some way at some time from legislation authored by TK.

But I guess it's easier, quicker and takes less BRAIN WORK to run someone down to the dogs than it does to do their homework on a the man's FULL senatorial record before opening their stupid mouths.

I always wanted to be just like ted.
I could even get away with murder.

Hell i dont see any differents in bush and obama, he is using the same policys and to top that off obama is related to dick chaney, dont get no better than that.

Anonymous said...

Bush and Obama are different Bush is a citizen born here and everything also Bush is a Christian and not the hate group kind that are really closet Muslims.Bush is proud of his country and traveled around the world promoting it unlike Obama who thinks America is evil and is constantly apologizing for her. Bush is capitalist Obama is a Socialist. Bush defended the country and honored the troops Obama cut n run or wants too now he doesn't seem to know what to do!

9;38 is a moron!

Reminding people that the drunken senator was responsible for the death of a young woman, is not "throwing crap." It is remindinding the public that this man is a piece of human scum who should have been in jail, not the senate!

Ted Kennedy and Jesse Helms, two sick pathetic, worthless and evil men. If there is a god in heaven, they are both fried to crisp in a hole in Hell. Yea, I'll sign my name. David Sapp

It's O.K., Mary Jo. He's on the way.

All you Kennedy worshippers...name the "meaningful " legislation this immoral drunkard has passed.Tell us what "great things" he has accomplished for the nation. He rode his family's name...period.The man is a fraud.

Wow! Its entertaining me to read the arguments between people regarding which douchebag is the bigger douchebag? Kennedy or Bush. In my eyes they are about equal. I know it is shocking for a lot of people to learn that there are about 3 people in Washington who are not total jerks. 1. My Aunt (who lives there) Wait, that's the only one I can think of. Seriously though, there are good and bad qualities of each man but a lot of people are blinded by red vs. blue.
