BALTIMORE (WJZ) — Schools across Maryland are preparing for a possible outbreak as COVID-19 has been declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization.
At a news conference Thursday afternoon, officials announced all public schools in the state will be closed next week and through Friday, March 27. School-sanctioned travel is also canceled.
All schools and school buses will be cleaned during the two weeks without classes, officials said. Schools are being asked to use spring break days as make-up days.
“Administrators, faculty, staff and parents and guardians should begin to immediately prepare for and to put into place measures for the continuity of educational services during a prolonged period of school closure,” State Superintendent of Schools Karen Salmon said. “Plans regarding childcare services are being developed by the state Department of Education at this time to ensure that the children of emergency services personnel, particularly those who are working in our health care facilities, will have access to childcare through a prolonged period of school closure.”

Never let a disaster go to waste.
Order out of Chaos
Can we say "Over reaction" ?
Now the THUGS will be going crazy ... LOCK N LOAD.
Unreal.... panic much people?
Daycares are still going to be open. All they did is cost me money. My wife and I both works jobs that are considered essential jobs. We can’t take off. My daughters daycare is bigger then the school. This makes no sense.
This is the recommendation from health professionals
Not enough toilet paper !!!!
What are essential jobs?
The only reason for the domino effect of all of the cancellations and closings is the fear of being sued.

The courts should be shut down and starve out the lawyer parasites!
Nurses, doctors, utility workers. Do research. I am not being smart. Once a state of emergency kicks in we have to work.
You knew this when you had kids.
School will be extended into July is all. The kids will be warm and the teachers uncomfortable but it will be fine.
Two people are sick in my office with the flu. Everyone is wondering if they have the virus? I think it is worse than what is being reported.
Now, school ALL summer !!!
Funny how they packed 87 potential jurors in a courtroom yesterday. I guess it's ok to force people into jury duty with a bunch of nasty ass sniffing, sneezing, not covering your mouth when you cough mofos. I'm more concerned about the flu and fungi spreading from some of these losers and I'm not talking about the criminals
All over a tiny, milder flu? This is stupidity.
They’ll probably allow them to be out on time
Cancellations are inevitable since there is no way to know who is a carrier of this virus.
Last I checked 70 80 90 yo don't go to school.
The decision isn't to protect our kids. It's to protect the teachers and administrators. They always come first before the children.
All over a tiny, milder flu? This is stupidity.

Until it's you or a family member that gets it and dies. Then you will want to blame somebody. Calling it a tiny, milder flu is stupidity.
