A Viewer Writes.....

Joe,

I've had issues as many others regarding the tearing down, defacing and ultimate removal of Historical Statues; particularly those from the Civil War.

As most readers realize, the Conflict that tore at the very fabric of our country was fought for various economic reasons.

Those who survived those horrific battles, Widows and Orphans used their meager incomes to erect these monuments to remind those who walk in the future, the great conflict that once existed.

Democrats later formed the KKK and continued to destroy lives long after the war up to the 21st Century.

Now progressive Democrats attempt to continue distraction by erasing this history; to keep most folks from learning of their evil desires on men and women.

I'm in wonder why the Historic societies are not standing their ground in preserving this history.

I also find it appalling we allow lawmakers LIKE HOGAN) to tear down these monuments.
If progressive Law Makers can get away with this , than it will not be long before they disarm the population and enter your home upon their written laws.

I'm eager to read what other Patriots have to say regarding these ignorant INCIDENTS happening at a fast rate by Progressives who hate the USA.

History is history and there should be no objection to allowing losers to have a statue

I totally agree, its a disgrace to lose the history. I was born in the south and use to be proud of the state I was from but now I'm ashamed of the way Virginia is bowing down to the people that wants to take it away. I could carry on and say a lot more but I better leave it alone. And that's why I'm at fault cause I allow this to happen without saying anything. Some of our jobs would be at risk if some of us would take a stand and I'm sure some of your readers understand what I'm saying.

Book burnings are next. The history being taught in public schools has been culled and scrubbed. My family's history was both union Union and Confederate and the concerted effort to erase part of this struggle should concern all Patriots. An organized effort to brainwash an entire generation is underway and sadly it is working.

LOL so many fallacies and misrepresentations of history here, it would take way too much time to address one by one. I'm convinced that this is always the game plan of folks like you. Cram as much crap down the pipe that it stops the flow of informed discourse.

It would be helpful if the writer cited any specific examples whatsoever. This piece is a vague meandering nothing which fails to produce a coherent point.

I am not one to romanticize the Confederate side of the Civil War. I grew up in the Deep South, but I am a astute student of history and realize that most of the elected leaders who pushed/voted for secession did so primarily because of the issue of slavery (just read their diatribes on the US Senate/House floors and state legislatures for goodness' sake!). HOWEVER! I think it is stupid to remove monuments erected to venerate Confederate soldiers, just like it's stupid to remove statues/memorials which venerate Lenin in East Germany. Such monuments are important reminders, and opportunities, which the culture should use for discussion and understanding. Removing them doesn't remove the ideas they represent, and neither does leaving them in place mean we all agree with them.

Life isn't a "safe space".

100% agree with the poster. Those attempting to erase History should be severely punished.

Democrats follow in the footsteps of communists. Erasing history for propaganda purposes is what they do.

It's the liberals way of life, cry, whine and cry some more until you get your way. The end of america as we once knew. When Trump leaves office, America will take it's last breath. Hopefully, we have 4 more years.

The Emancipation Proclamation, or Proclamation 95, was a presidential proclamation and executive order issued by United States President Abraham Lincoln on January 1, 1863. The war was one of many issues.
I am sorry to say that my nephew is part of a company that is re-writing our history books to indoctrinate students.

Confederates were the losers! If you want to keep your statues just remember they are giant participation trophies.

If you think getting rid of a statue erases history I have this crazy thing to tell you about called a BOOK! THEY'RE INSANE. They contain tons of information on how the Confederates rebelled against the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA to secede.

Yes, the civil war was fought and more Americans lost their lives in that war than all of our other wars combined. And yes, the Union "won" and the Confederacy "lost." In a gesture to bring healing to our great country, the North and Abe Lincoln allowed the south to honor their dead lost in the war and their war heroes. After all, they are Americans too. There was no attempt to punish the South for so bravely fighting for their independence from the Union. Now the Democrats want to reopen the wounds of the civil war by destroying the statues honoring their war dead and heroes. They were allowed for a reason, and shouldn't be removed in an attempt to revise history. And all just for democrat politicians to use racism as a political tool. They would love nothing better for America than another civil war. Lincoln knew better than to punish the South. The healing and peace lasted for 155 years before the democrats weaponized the statues against the south. Democrats and their leaders are divisive and disgusting. They are un-Americans, and this is just another example.

I think all statues should be considered Federal property. If a State wants to remove it let them pay for the relocation to Federal property.
