A draft of a new committee rules package expected to be approved this week would strike the phrase, “So help me God,” from the oath witnesses take when they testify before the House Committee on Natural Resources.
Fox News says it received an exclusive copy of the committee’s draft that places the phrase in red brackets, a sign the words are slated to be eliminated.
If the phrase is cut, the House Committee on Natural Resources would ask witnesses to state only: “Do you solemnly swear or affirm, under penalty of law, that the testimony that you are about to give is the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth?”

It's irrelevant, and forces someone to call out to a specific deity. No place in government should this sort of thing be needed, supported, or relevant. Two firm reasons for this
It is in direct violation with the freedoms afforded all American's by the 1st Amendment. If forces those swear to a deity they may or may not believe in.
Second, it is a violation of the establishment clause.
Good call, should be removed.
This is all and probably good but really people can we start giving up petty issues. Don't we have more important issues to discuss and approve. The wall!
and you sir are the reason the country is going to hell...
They may as well take it out. It doesn't mean anything to the lying criminals anyway. They will lie either way.
Disgusting evil satanic democrats!
At least it wasn't changed to "so help me allah".
@ 1:26, You make very good points. But it does not matter whether they strike it,or leave it. Because in the near future everyone will be on their knees begging "Help me/us God!"
This kijnd of crap is just the beginning of the end.
Never was a problem for 242 years. Why both it now? Because the democrats are still livid about losing to President Trump and will try anything they can think of to render the constitution worthless, which will allow all laws to be twisted in their favor

The length of time something has been wrong bears no relevance to the fact that it is still wrong.
