The war on Columbus has been going on for a while—and it’s to be expected in far-left enclaves like Berkeley—but it’s sad to see America’s foremost Catholic university join in the crusade.
The Rev. John Jenkins, president of the University of Notre Dame, announced Sunday that school officials would cover murals of Christopher Columbus, the famed explorer credited with discovering the New World.
In a statement to the school, Jenkins said some found the murals offensive because they were “blind to the consequences of Columbus’s voyage for the indigenous peoples,” and saw them as demeaning.
Jenkins acknowledged some of Columbus’ contributions, but said that wasn’t enough to leave the murals uncovered at his school.

Hmmm... A Catholic university and the Catholics have the Knights of Columbus and I am one of them.
If I drive past a really nice house that I've never seen before can I kick in the door because I've discovered it take all the valuables and then start renting the place out?
The story that schoolbooks have told our children is a lie. If anyone discovered the new world it were the original settlers that crossed the bering straight during the ice age. There is even proof of Asians and Vikings arriving in the Native Americans land long before Columbus. I won't blame him for everything that happened years after he arrived but if you look at his own story the guy was a major jerk. Columbus' voyage started the European takeover of America and history is always written by the conqueror. We are lying to our children if they aren't shown the full story and it's not Pilgrams and Indians sitting down for Turkey.

ND used to be an elite school with class and prestige. Now it's just like any other LIBERAL mess of a school. The Catholic Church is more concerned with ERASING history than stopping FULL TERM ABORTIONS. Yet the parents are so stupid to Pat top dollar for RACISM course. Too bad they listen to the 1% who don't even know history let alone paying tuition.
Allowing Democrats to dictate history is dangerous for all of our freedom in this country and need to take a stand against it.

The story we tell our kids is the truth as a child should hear it. The facts are what they are and we are or should all be taught about dangers of imperialism then and now. Instead of covering it up like Nazis use it as a teaching moment.
