You are correct. White people do commit crimes at the beach too. Remember Erica Sifrit and her husband. They were white people who murdered another couple. Famous crime for the beach area.

I agree with you Joy! Unfortunately our grand children will never enjoy the lifestyle we had as teenagers. I am a former Yorker and spent many weekends as a teenager at OC (I am now 74) Yes...they better clean it up quickly! I now live in Toledo, Ohio......OC is beginning to sound like Detroit Mi....so sad

Imitation is the highest form of flattery? I doubt it in this case. Some one(s) don't know how to make their own handle, they can't compete so they copy, they are embarrassed by being shown their ignorance so they try to discredit, etc. Sad really but understandable especially from people in this area. Broken homes...whatever...I was primarily raised by my mother and my children by me...It's plain and simple...TEACH YOUR CHILD RESPECT! Teen pregnancy has been happening since the dawn of time! Again teach your child respect and Tan their butts if need be...Some of these parents are afraid to raise a hand to a child because of the horse $#!+ they tell them in school these days..abuse..spanking ..there is a HUGE difference between correcting your child and a beating a child...if I did something wrong..I was punished...not beaten...if it was real bad ya damn right I felt the wooden spoon or a hand across my @$$...my kids learned the same way I did...stop being Freakin Pansy Asses, stop being afraid of your kids!!! Oh, I think one could look further, and even look around in OC itself. No doubt smallsbury has more than its share of thugs and wannabe thugs but da bury does not have a monopoly on them. And don't forget the homegrown ones in OC too. The police in OC would have you think there are none and all their crime is imported but that simply is not true.

How are you going to teach anyone to show respect when you do not display any yourself?.
Never has been the same since Hurricane Sandy, the Trashy crowd from New York, and New Jersey started staying here in larger numbers.
To the Mayor and City Council of Ocean City - You have had more than a whole day to digest these events, as well as the outrage of residents, visitors, and former visitors. There doesn't seem to be any public explanation or plan to resolve this problem immediately and definitively. It has taken you years to bring us all to this point, and it has been very bad for the past few summer seasons. You have had all day now to figure out what to do. Please, no more proclamations that the boardwalk is safe until after you all (all of you) take your loved ones out for a LATE-NIGHT walk down there. How about on a weekend? Have some ice cream, ride the rides, cut through a few side streets and parking lots...you know, like get down with the people. No police escorts, just small groups of you, say five to eight. Bring some kids, too. Then come back and tell us again how safe it really is.
My guess is you will do none of that. You will downplay the situation and recent events (by the way, why shut down your FB page?) and accuse Albero and Trump supporters and smokers and Cruisers and anybody but the guilty parties i.e. the thugs and yourselves. Thanks for some of the good things you've done over the years, but at least one or two resignations are in order, if not more.
My family's been coming here for almost 70 years! I've been watching things get worse each year but this is a new low! While you clean up the trash on the beach the human trash keeps pouring in... and topless now too? Not around our children... we are done! Too bad the city fathers are so short sighted. Wake up people the sewer and the swamp are taking over!
With everyone coming to the beaches from everywhere...you get all "kinds" this is very sad. I love OC but dont' go there often because of the crowds. What a shame.

Howard County has senior week this past week. Carroll County is this upcoming week. Between the riot last July, Human Trafficking bust the end of May this May, and women being topless, OCMD is turning bad. Time to sell the property and get the H-E Double Hockey Sticks outta there. No one wants to be around continuous crime whether it is June bugs or not. Mayor Meehan and OCPD, you may control the press releases you do, but the internet cannot be shut down.

So sad. We were thinking about taking the kids to OC this summer. But no way now that topless women can walk around and nothing is done about it. And then to hear this. No thank you. We'll stick to OC as a winter getaway. And head to Chincoteague Va, and Assateague Va for our family's vacation spot. I'll gladly spend my/our money their instead of somewhere who doesn't have the balls to stand up to women who can't keep their damn shirts/bikini tops on. I'm sorry, but our 14 year old, 8 year old and 5 year old don't need to see that crap. And my hubby and I sure don't want to have to see it either. I've said for years that I hate OC in the summertime. It's nothing but a crap load of people who have no respect for one another, overcrowded. Only time we enjoy going to OC is in the winter when everything is dead and only a few restaurants and stores are open. So peaceful and relaxing.
Ocean City is a far cry from a family resort!!! I spent several years working in the ER and every time I'd hear the mayor and council state what "a family resort Ocean City is"...I'd love for them to spend a Saturday night in the ER with all of the gang assaults, sexual assaults, stabbing, shootings, kids so drunk they'd have to be put on machines to breathe for them, overdoses...etc!!! And just like the rest of this county, the criminals are constantly let off the hook!!! Just the other week OCPD cracked some drug and prostitution ring...most all of them releases on their own recognizance!!! The courts are teaching criminals that they can pretty much get away with murder!!! Same apples to Salisbury!!! So Ocean City...you can now reap what you've sewn!!! So PLEASE...refrain from referring to this town as "family friendly" !!!!! To all visitors who read this...be very afraid!!!!!!!

Reading these posts makes me realize how this country needs to come together. All take so much time posting their opinions, as I am doing now (sad). Let's work together to resolve the issues. Not bash each other for our beliefs. Crime is crime and should be dealt with by the law. Right from wrong is first and always taught from the parents. Both my kids respect the law, and respected their teachers. When 1 set of parents does not reach right, wrong and respect it is like a virus and spreads, fortunately the parents we are taught our kids how to avoid the virus.
Family friendly, my ass! OC was wide open 30+ years ago. I was there. Family friendly ended at sundown. After that, it was Dodge City. Who remembers Samantha's, the Back of The Rack, etc.....
"Senior week" goes for several weeks....depends on where you go to school and when you graduate...
These thugs don't care about human life all they care about is their cars, So remember this when you see these people and damage their cars. If you do this they will never come back, It's your civil duty.
Really people wake up. I was there last year and will probably not go back. Board walk was very dark with thugs walking in groups . drugs and gangs are there .non of this stuff happens cruising weekend . this is the Junebugs getting drunk and drugs. I was amazed to see how many KUDS were going down there to do nothing but drink and cause trouble. Trust me the inner city youths are not helping the situation either .Wake up goes OC is going down the tube

I used to go every year until 2012. I had booked a vacation there for this September. Good to know what it has turned into. Time to cancel and go to another beach.
I live in North OC - and can tell you there is a significant LE presence - I usually observe 2-3 police officers with in about a five block radius daily - as a result, I don't believe there are as many issues as the south end of town (except for the drunken idiot who stuck his Volvo in the median the other day!)
OC officials have no one to blame except themselves. With their outrageous taxes, fees, permitting, ordinances, and regulations, it's a good breeding ground for the sub-cultures. I have said it before and I will say it again, STAY OUT OF OCEAN CITY. Believe me, you'll be lucky if you can exit back across the bridge (west) with a few dollars in your pocket. With all the shysters, gangsters (organized city hall officials) including one former Mayor - the odds are stacked against you. So my advise is to venture into OC at your own peril.
Our entire country is like this. We have removed our God from law and from schools. By that we removed fear of God and consequences. No morals,no rules. Men have no responsibility to be men...heads of the household, God fearing individuals who were responsible for the actions of his household per God. Instead now boys are inpregnating and degrading females. Society has built up woman like Beyonce and Madona who are no where near what the bible calls woman to be.
We are unable to punish criminals because of fear, fear of media, fear of lawsuits. Everyone has a right to be as filthy and common as they want. Burning American flags, marches turn into looting and destruction. And we film it hiding in our homes.
This is what we screamed we wanted! Get God out of our faces...let us run the streets acting like fools and then cry about what is happening to our society. And THEN..we blame God, how can a loving kind God let this happen?

It starts with BAD PARENTS (my childs best friend) you can not be both. I've seen parents that pay for private education and blame the school for there childs bad behavior. Ive seen kids get arrested in O.C. and watched the parent blame everyone but the child and themselves. Adults that do not take any personal responsibility have children that have NO PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY. Repos, foreclosures, mountains of credit card debt doesn't equal someone that knows how to raise a good child.
Senior week also known as Spring Break is one of the top dreaded weeks for hotels and resort hotels because of the destruction and damage caused to their rooms and hallways and pools and furniture. They are crazy out of control brats. Crime shootings stabbings are not the problem with this crowd though. Just out of control behavior.

Sounds like Salisbury? Sounds like Baltimore City, shootings, stabbings,dead bodies behind dumpsters, drug deals in the alley's. All of that and I'm supposed to bring my grandchildren around a bunch of mindless bimbo's that want to run around children on the beach top less. NO THANKS I will take my business to Myrtle Beach even during their bike rallies and car shows you don't have all of that craziness.
If you want a Hedonism resort then go to a Hedonism resort don't try and turn O C into one.

Well, I grew up in Camden NJ, a CRIME infested city even back then. Atlantic City, Wildwood. We just stayed away from the bad kids, white, brown and black. We moved here 4 yrs ago and I've never had a problem at OC. Sure I see bad, but I also see active cops taking care of things. Still do the same I did yrs ago...stay clear of the bad and enjoy myself & family.

Yes senior week is through 16th and yes that's most the problem hotel motel owners let them stay even if a parent rents the room for them. I
M 62 grew up in there every year day after school out till the day before school started, it's never been the same every year worse. SOMEONE IN THAT TOWN NEED 24 HOUR POLICE ON THE BOARDWALK EVERY BLOCK. FORK OUT THE MONEY YOUR TAKEN IN TO KEEP OC FAMILY FRIENDLY. GET WITH THE PROGRAM PEOPLE OR WELL ALL LOSE OF TO CRIME
Crime and drugs are everywhere , yes it is a shame , As a resident.of OC I love Ocean City. But this has been happening a long time , I am not a fool to think OC does not have crime and drugs guns violence etc., sounds like they need to focus on these areas
Stand up. As a community and take our Ocean City back by not shying away from these areas and continue to enjoy our community.

I'll stick with the Outer Banks of North Carolina, where we own a sound-front condo and can carry a concealed weapon.We don't get nearly as much riff-raff down there. Maybe it's too far for the riff-raff to drive. Ocean City has NOTHING I want to see or do.
We stopped going to Virginia Beach years ago for those reasons. Panhandlers, vagrants, homeless sleeping on and/or underneath the boardwalk benches, surly restaurant employees, etc. It's the OBX for us from now on. It's a much safer and friendlier atmosphere.
The spanish already have taken over. They live under piers under everything. Sad
Ocean City hasn't been a family resort since the late 90s. Why you people continue think it is is just nuts. There's been drug problems, gangs and all kinds of crime there for well over a decade but you people just stick you head in the sand and think everything is just hunkie dorie.

If anyone goes racing down the streets, doing burn-outs, and disregarding safety LAWS, they not only bring the bad element, they ARE the bad element.
When I heard "senior" week, I thought it was me. (I'm 63 yrs young) Oh well...anyway what about it? A REAL seniors week for those of us? Blare 1960's music on the rides and give senior discounts to those over 55. (Promise we'll TRY to behave. :-)

Well I'm up for topless beaches in America. The men have been going topless for 50 years. European beaches are topless. It's the covering up that makes it taboo. It would take a decade to get it to seem normal but after a while it would be the norm. As for the crime, that is a product of the growth and overcrowding. Way too many people in too small of an area. You are bound to have conflict and crime. I graduated in '89 and Beach Week was a blast. A good bit of drinking but you felt safe. But I've been going to the Outer Banks for 15 years because of how over-crowded OC is now. My son graduated this week and wanted nothing to do with OC.

If you want OC to be a family resort, then don't rent to 18 year old teenagers. I just gave my son a 21st birthday gift to Universal Studios in Orlando and because he won't be 21 until late summer, he was not allowed to check into the hotel without someone 21 or older so we send his older sister, too.

OC is not the only beach in the world people. If it's getting so bad, go somewhere else until they fix the problem or go start making new memories at a nicer beach. OC has been trash for years. Sad but true...

My favorite family Beach was Dewey Beach Delaware since the 70's.Wildwood got like OC-MD is now.Probably better now
It is still safer to be here than Baltimore and every other area in MD, during the winter months, it just seems that criminals bring crime here in April- August but this is a a wonderful safest area to be in for the other 7 months of the year!
