Most is booze but to fit the current narrative it say something about opiates.

You are 100% correct and I am sick and tired of idiots blaming doctors and opiate prescription for their bad choices.
Oxcontin, Oxcodone, Codeine, etc. has been prescribed for many years and now all of a sudden it's the doctors fault for trying to do his job and comfort his patient.
When the Hell will Libtards start owning their problems. I am sick and tired of hearing it's someone elses fault.
If you abuse your meds you will get hooked. A family member has been prescribed opiates for a over a year, and they take half doses and when they don't feel the need to take them they dont. They aren't hooked, because they are cautious not to get hooked. People who get hooked are menatally or physically weak, they have a need to hide from thier problems.
Right it is NOT a disease. This is just an excuse and the reason why 90% of treatment fails. Those in the business want addicts to continue to be addicts. Do not let them fool you. "Recovery" is their livelihood. The addict is told it's a disease so they don't feel bad or stigmatized about being an addict. The best drug rehabs with the highest success rate are those who don't call the choice of addiction a disease.

"Prescription drugs have led to the resurgence of the heroin biz"
Ummm.. Prescription drugs have been around for over 100 years so quit inventing those lies about a resurgence blaming them.
I know the facts and your facts are only excuses. Get a life you dumb moron and start owning up to your own problems that you and your family members have created.
Exactly 12:13 you only get addicted when you take them when there is no pain. The opiates don't have a pain receptor to attach to so are confused so to speak.

Addiction isn't a disease. That is a liberal political label and not a medical one. And before anyone says the AMA says it is-remember less then 15% of practicing doctors belong. It too is a political organization. Reasons why it's not a disease is because with a disease there is the presence of a main deviation from what is physiological and anatomically normal. Treatment for addiction consists of stopping. This not true with true disease. There is nothing you can stop that will cure a true disease.
That doctors are to blame is the biggest cop out ever but you can blame obama and his open border policy and telling border patrol to stand down pretty much. The heroin is coming in from Mexico and Columbia. The cartels figured out it's easier to smuggle and much more profitable. Under obama the cartels were able to flood the streets with heroin. Kids who a lot of the parents did look the other way because "it's just pot" did as kids will do. They always are looking for something better. Something that gets them "more high." We did it. Beer wasn't enough so we on occasion went to shots/shooters. It the same way with the kids now today. They think they will just do it once or twice and all will be okay. But the high is too great so they keep up. It can only take 5x's to be addicted. Pot smoking is not okay. Anything that alters the mind is never a good idea to use. If you feel like you need to do this "to relax" something if very very wrong in your life and that is what you should be addressing and not trying to cover it up with mind altering substances.

Sorry folks but it IS a disease and the genetic aspect of it has been PROVEN! God forbid you have a family member that has it but if you don't know the genetic aspect of the disease then you will be combatting the problem at a disadvantage.
Don't laugh because the comment is 100% spot on. Without going into great detail it's basically the body has opioid receptors. Opiates attach to and bind the receptors in the brain, spine and other areas. They reduce the sending of pain to the brain. When there is no message of pain to send to the brain they can cause addiction because for purposes of easy understanding for the novice-there is nothing for them to do so they go to the brain reward system. For further info look up brain reward system.

Not true. When something is genetic there is a particular gene present. Blue eyes for instance. There is a gene. There is no addiction gene. It's environmental. If parents drink or do drugs that's what the children know so they are likely to do the same.
Sorry Shadow but you are way off base but if it makes you feel better then so be it. But that's all it's going to do. It's not going to help an addict. It is a habit. No different then smoking. Both end up (with different intensity) controlling someone's life. The fact stands most rehabs have dismal failure rates. This because they aren't truthful. They are politically correct and don't want to hurt feelings and yes they want the money more then anything. The very few people who get clean do so on their own with no treatment at all. No one telling them it's a disease or it's genetic. Many Vietnam vets came home addicted and most kicked the habit without help. It's wanting to do it, committing to do it and completely changing your lifestyle. This means getting rid of social media, cell phone w/numbers of so called friends who use. Finding habits you enjoy and other complete lifestyle changes. But again if it makes you feel good to say what you do then so be it but you only have to look at the epidemic and the deaths to see it's not working.
Calling it a "disease" just placates the addict and makes them feel better about problem. Calling it a disease is counter productive and enables them to keep on their destructive path because in calling it a "disease" they don't have to take PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY and taking that responsibility is the first step toward recovery.
Picking your nose is a habit (and a bad one at that). Opioid and heroin use is an addiction. Some people are predisposed genetically to become addicts.

I was laughing because it was said if there is no pain there is no pain receptors. And now I believe some do not have common sense receptors. Brain reward system? Is that like when everyone gets a trophy even when they fail?
I have a uncle who is a crack addict and a uncle, a veteran who is a alcoholic. The veteran said he likes to drink. The head was spoiled entitled and has never taken responsibility for lack of his choice to not be a man always looking to scheme or scam which is the case w/ most addicts. Disease my azzz only disease is the dis ease the selfish self absorbed cause everyone around them.
How many od's are from legal prescriptions and how many from street drugs? There now is a counterfeit pill with markings showing it as a 10mg percocet that is lethal.

Not seeing a problem. Let's just rebrand it as population control.
Stupid enough to do it....pay the price.
Next subject.
12:42. You are extremely rude. It's inappropriate to resort to name calling.
That doctors are to blame is the biggest cop out ever but you can blame obama and his open border policy and telling border patrol to stand down pretty much.

This country has had a bad drug problem since the 60s nothing new.
